Hello Tamarr, Kelly, and TJ!! Woo hoo. This is really exciting to watch develop into a tiny second home for visitors! The best of luck in having a smooth build! A few side notes-- I don't recall the video where you had comments about your main house cistern. But, I do remember the video about you saying it was going to be a concrete cistern; and I remember my thoughts of "hmmm...interesting". Yes...I'd go with a plastic one too! Ha...who knew....we are in the 2020s...and they still use a tube filled with water to level vice a level with (Austin Powers insert) "lasers". Tube and water always works!! Lasers run out of batteries just after you drove 50 miles to get there. Exciting stuff!! And here we are about 1.5 months from having to break out the snow shovels again. This summer is flying by.

Too many valid points and yes, “a tube”. 😂, I couldn’t believe it but it was effective! We are very happy with the construction and can’t wait for it to end. Hope all is good on your side.

I'd love to hear about the plastic vs cement cistern. My builder, who is also a friend (friend before I started building), suggested the cement one for me.

Hi Jenny, here are a few reasons: 1. It’s harder to maintain a clean tank. 2. It’s much harder to ensure it doesn’t leak. 3. The construction might leave exposed materials that will come in contact with your water. 4. As for cost, they are almost identical as for using plastic!

Based on our experience I would not recommend them. And we weren’t anywhere close to timeframe.
