The notion of value-based health care is increasingly used to promote transparent use of available resources to improve health outcomes, patient experiences and the efficiency of care. Different actors within health systems can contribute to achieving these goals, but can their contributions be aligned with a unifying concept of health system value?
From a health system perspective, value embraces health improvement, health care responsiveness, financial protection, and efficiency and equity to look towards contributing to societal wellbeing.
