Good for Linda having that colonoscopy. I was just at the doctor last week. He was reviewing my chart and noticed that I was overdue for my colonoscopy. He reminded me to schedule that test and said, "You don't want that to slip through the cracks.". He just wanted me to remember, but we both laughed & laughed at how that sounded. 😂

I just had one as well a few weeks ago and they found some polyps, now l have to go back in 5 yrs … l don’t want to , but l also don’t want cancer so it’s a no brainer . So glad Linda brought it up 🥰

@d.l.n.7133 my dad had polyps removed more than once, so I am on a 5 year recall for colonoscopies. I have had 2 already, and I am due for #3 in 2024. Too bad the prep couldn't be a little easier, but the procedure itself is nothing as one is totally sedated.

Wow, when I had my colonoscopy, count back from 100, got to 98 and was out! It just felt like I had a great nap!!

We give our kids cash. I started putting it in a "trinket" box every year. They now have a collection. They buy what they want anyway. The littles are fun to buy for. 🙂

I love Phillips Collision! I had a fender bender and had them do the repairs. When I picked up the car, it had been completely detailed (inside and out)! It looked like a brand new car.

Speaking of loosing electronics… back in the 80s I wore a pager for my job. One day I heard a high pitched whine. I walked around cubicle-land to find the source. Everyone said they heard it too. Fast forward a few minutes and I realized it was the low battery warning from my pager!

Always get more than one estimate for handyman work. I recently paid WAY too much for some minor home repairs and painting the master bathroom because I was under a time crunch.

I just turned 69 a couple of weeks ago. On Saturday, I spent 20 minutes looking for the watch on my wrist. 😳 It’s a stressful time of the year. Glad you found your phone. 🥳

My next door neighbor has a clay adobe style wood burner. He buys the bundle of wood from a store ( I have seen them at Publix, Rural King, Sparr and other places) I do not know where he stores the wood, but I think the bundle is small enough that he burns it all up in one evening.

For colonoscopies, you can use a mix of Gatorade (yellow or green I think are ok colors) and Miralax. I used this the last 2 times, after I couldn’t stomach the mix from the doctor’s office and sought alternatives. You can even use Gatorade Zero. The mix just tastes like sweet Gatorade. It’s very tolerable and makes the prep much easier. The recipe can be easily found online.

Interesting how the instructions are different. What you described above are the instructions our doctors office gives us. As long as the outcome is the same!

@@karendjohn8803 Some doctors offices do tell people to use the Gatorade+Miralax. Others still sell or prescribe a different mix. My doctor’s staff started to get me set up with their mix, and I simply said I was going to use the Gatorade+Miralax and I didn’t get any pushback.

I would definitely check with the Gastroenterologist, before taking a preparation that isn't prescribed by the doctor who will be doing the procedure. My GI doc told me if you aren't cleaned out the test results might not be accurate and you might have to have the test repeated.

In our house, and likely because of British heritage we don't really start to put up decorations until a week before Christmas and it is all down and packed away on New Years Day. I think that may have been because we used to have live trees and they didn't last much more than two weeks if you were lucky.

Happy face or not Jerry you mention "work ethic" that is so difficult to find these days anywhere..any type of job. Especially the "trades" such as most homeowners need...plumbing, electrical and especially outdoor yard work. Your tips regarding good experiences must be very helpful to those living near you...to be honest these days I will take someone who knows what they are doing and if they are pleasant all the better. Hard to find the smile and work quality. Good show.

Thank you for getting a colonoscopy Linda. I had my first one at age 52, then 4 years ago, and I am due for another one in 2024. My 2019 colonoscopy cost almost $20K, but my employer's health insurance paid every penny of it. Yes, the prep for the colonoscopy is not the highlight of your year, but it is preventive medicine. And you are totally sedated during the procedure itself. My Dad had a friend who did not survive colon cancer.

That bbq looks so good! That is a must try. Loved your phone story, Linda. Reminded me of my panic losing my phone in Northern Ireland. Met a lovely employee at the port who took me in his Mini Cooper to go find it. It was also in my pocket and fell out in the door of the taxi.

Linda I do that with my phone all the time. When I say I can't find my phone my family goes check everything on or by you and sure enough that's where it is. Happens because we have too much on our minds I think. At least we are not alone. 😂😂😂

Awesome show today. Keep up the great work. My best friend and her husband live in Gilcrest. My other and her husband live in Fenny... I've been down several times. Haven't been down now since before Covid. They're always trying to convince me to buy my retirement home there. Up here in MA I'd sure make the dollars selling my home but wouldn't afford me to be a snow bird. I am not a fan of oppressive heat & humidity. At least here in the summer we have the ocean less than 12 miles.

Great show! I can feel for Linda losing her phone and finding it in the back pocket! Jerry, ELO is one of my all-time favorite bands as well, and Jeff Lynn's ELO is a testament to his genius! I usually like just one or two songs from other bands, but I love almost ALL of ELO's songs, because they're great melodies to sing-along with, especially at karaoke, which I hope there are plenty of at TV! See you both when we get there! 😀🎤🎶

We have an older Toyota Camry and had the same thing happen. Did the same thing. We had used a body shop a couple of years before and they put it on while we waited. $50.00. Many Japanese cars use similar handles, and similar problems.

OMG Car door handles are so cheap nowadays. And worse yet, in northern climates, since cars don't have rain gutters on the roof rail anymore, doors freeze shut much more often than they used to. We were an AMC family, (I owned a 1974 Javelin, the 7th AMC in my family) and I miss those flush mount, stainless steel door handles they had. They were so rugged and never iced up.

Hi Jerry & Linda, Thanks for another great Mailbag Monday. Looking forward to Thursday's show where you will talk about golf cart thieves in The Villages. This is not solely a Villages problem. My husband and I live in a 55+ community in Fruitland Park and our community has had a few golf carts stolen over the past few years. It seems to becoming more and more of a problem. Keep up the good work.

Jerry and Linda we’ll be down next week for our lifestyle visit. We’re excited to see if the villages might be an answer for us. My wife does not drive (by choice) but we think would be comfortable with a golf cart. The walkability plus all the variety all 100% golf cart accessible is key. Anyway thank you we enjoy your show.

You will have a good time, but I think you might find that is not all that walkable. Walking in the neighborhoods is fantastic, but getting to places you need to go can be a different story.

I have a phone case very similar to yours, with credit card holder and small change section, but mine has a detachable long, thin strap so I can wear it as a cross-body mini-purse if I wish. I always do that in stores and also put my car keys in my pocket. This way, I won't have the hassle of having to cancel my credit cards, and I can still drive home even if my big purse gets stolen. Better yet, I won't have to borrow a phone to call my husband to come pick me up because my purse got stolen, lol.

Funny Ex Lax childhood story. I am the oldest of 8. We grew up on Long Island with no AC in the house. Us older kids would sometimes hide candy bars in the freezer so they wouldn’t melt. My 3 year old sister was caught moving a chair to the refrigerator and going into the freezer and stealing the older siblings candy bars. Well one summer, my Dad was using some Ex Lax and placed the box of the chocolate laxatives in the freezer so they wouldn’t melt. Well later that day none of us could get in the main bathroom because my 3 year old sister would not come out what seemed like for days! 😂. When Dad came home he couldn’t find his Ex Lax. We figured out the obvious. Our sister must have eaten what she thought was a Hershey bar, but was actually like 20 adult doses of Ex Lax! 😂😂😂. After she stayed in there for a long time, I don’t think she had to go for a month!

Linda, I had the same experience with my phone, and have also done that with keys. Definitely understand that feeling of panic! So glad you had it with you the whole time! I'm also a big fan of fried green tomatoes. I never see them in the winter though! I always grab them at the farmers market in the summer!Great show again, lots of helpful information! I always watch to the end because you are so entertaining! I got the word jumble!!

As usual another great show! Merry, you are just like me when it comes to less than friendly employees. It sort of becomes a challenge to me to try and make them smile. I will usually ask them how their day is going with a big smile. Sometimes I will say that they look like they are having a rough day and I hope it gets better. Sometimes, I can get them to snap,out of it because they are embarrassed that they are being called out, most of the time they say nothing and continue in their foul mood. In my house growing up, if I came to breakfast in a bad mood, I got sent back to my room until I could be pleasant. No one is taught this anymore. Love you guys! Keep up the great work.

Hi Both...what's unbelievable is Jerry videoing on the way home...I am absolutely spinning after anesthetic and in no way to be seen on video ha Great video and Michael is really doing well in his new home. I just love y’all’s videos. My husband and I are 51 and y’all make me look forward to our next stage of life. ❤ I hope to visit The Villages one day. Louisiana has warm, sunny winters, too, but there is nothing like The Villages here for 55+.

Another comment about the unfriendly employees, I had my car winterized recently and the guy doing it never smiled and had a pouty expression and only seemed happy when we paid the bill, so I can relate! High bill too!
