Near the airport I would love to see a small area full of hotels, fast food, gas station, and maybe a small park/pedestrian plaza near the beach, basically a green space people could chill out after checking out of the hotel before their flight, and taxis/public transit! Every airport I’ve ever been to has this kind of developed area right around it, even if it’s all and in the middle of no where and this area basically exists solely to support the airport!

to make it more realistic you can put the runways going in two different directions still parallel to each other and a cross wind runway at an angle sideways from the other runways :) you can also add taxiways through the center of the runways

You should use the space much better. Inverse the runways and airport entrance so that you have the runways on the river side and the airport entrance on the beach side. form there you can create a tourist leisure district along the beach. the tall hotels will have views on the beach on one side and on the airport runway on the other side. I also suggest adding roundabouts to send people in different directions near the airport.

I think maybe just wait with creating the perfect airport until you have unlock everything, however with the size of the city a smaller airport seems more appropriate so shrinking it a little might look a bit better in comparison to the city as a whole. Also I think it might look more fitting in if it is build up a bit with commercial and stuff. That's just my opinion on your question, do what ever you think is best. With time it will always start to look better and more put together.

10:00 using move it, you can select the terminal, click rotate at center and then click on the runway, and that'll make it parallel to the runway, james. 16:00 you _can_ use them using find it. both the ground and the elevated versions. 34:30 broken node detector works great for that. usually for me there are no broken nodes, the game just needs to run for a bit, then it gets working. also, runways are generally 2.5-to-4 kilometres long, I thing the longest commercial one is about 5 km-long, so you could make one longer? and add another one at an angle to these? and add runway markings, like 31l-13r and 31r-13l and such? I don't know which way was north in this map, but runways are named for their heading direction in decadegrees, north being 36 (360), east 9 (90), etc. for example, 31r is a runway heading north-northwest, on the right hand side. its reverse direction is 13l. one heading directly west would be 27r, or 27l.

For the position of runways relative to the taxiways, it could be a good idea to look at some regional or smaller international airport layouts as a reference. Could give you an idea of the distance between taxiways and terminal. Great episode as usual!

have the terminal in the middle and add one runway on each side, that way the airport will be more realistic and more compact. And try to minimize the size of the taxiways so the terminal is quite close to the runways

The garbage and crime issue at the airport is, I believe, a bug in the game. It sees that none of the buildings inside the airport have access to police or garbage, even though there's no way for service vehicles get out there.

I live in a rural town and they’re adding some commercial buildings downtown - seeing them go through zoning and begin building just makes me think of this series and I love it

kind of random, but when you zoom out to see whole city I think the port looks so good! it always grabs my eye and its one of my favorite parts :)

A train/metro connection from the airport would be handy for tourists

in real life a lot of airports have perpendicular runways, because it's benefitial to land and take off into the wind, and making them different directions increases the odds of one of them being in the wind direction!

A extra long international runway is about 3.75km, a regular one would be ~3.0-2.5km. Domestic runways are 1.5-2.0km. 1 cell is 8m. so 2km = 250 cells/units. They should be spaced 20-30units apart.

Building the runways parallel to the coast may mean lots of crosswind on landing and takeoff. There's also a small hill in the direction planes are landing from, which would probably annoy the pilot.

Transit oriented development! Residential are a MUST near airports, airports when located far away from cities are usually little town of their own filled with residential and commercial (mostly for the airport workers). Unless an airport is more cargo oriented then industries around it are very rare!

Hey, James! I’m from Brazil and love your channels! I’d build both runways by the river together with a cargo area leaving the beach to build a harbour to receive tourists coming from cruise ships. So, by the coast/beach the city will have a touristic area with hotels, nightlife and harbour, also the airport terminal will be facing this touristic area. By the river, it will have runways, hangars, cargo and all the airport infrastructure!!

So cool to see you finally working on the airport. It was fun seeing you struggling getting plains to land at the place! ;) Let me give you a tip. You see people in this game are very efficient, if there is a faster route they will take it. Because the Airport is not very accessible by public transport and your Airport only allows for regional planes at the moment, incoming people rather use the car. If you make the Airport more accessible, and level it up so the Airport allows for bigger planes you will see way more people coming in to your Airport. P.S. Pleas allow intercity trains in the city. Personaly I am more a train guy than an air-plane guy when it comes to city’s skylines and it pains me to see mega airport in a city that doesn't allow for intercity trains. Love the content keep it up!

8:20 actually most of the taxiways have 90 degree angles, im not sure why but its a thing edit: just saw you changed it. Yes, i think it might be a bit too large compared to the city

I work at an airport and the one thing I can say is that that curved taxi way is very cursed. However, aside from that the airport seems fine, I hate how it won't let you connect more taxi ways to the runways. Many of the smaller/SVTOL planes that land at my airport can taxi off the runway within less than 1-2,000ft and don't have to get all the way to the end. The airport logic of CSL is actually really funny.

Larger airports usually have several runways in different directions, so that one can be selected that is most nearly aligned with the wind. Airports with one runway are often constructed to be aligned with the prevailing wind.

Watching you build is always so satisfying

Let's be real, those runways are way too long compared to the size of the city. Even in Barcelona where we rolled over 40 minutes when we had to get from one side of the runway to another, they were no near that long. Also, when it comes to the public transport. Metro, train and buses can be connected to the airport and the main hall. There are special assets for that. People will be able to stay in one building. It's pretty neat.

Great progress today! 🥰 Maybe tuck a cop shop inside the terminal if you can... and a fire dept. too. Not sure if that would work, but you do it with other buildings (like the post office) and they seem to work okay. Reminder... you also need to set a way for garbage pickup to happen.

I'd like to make a suggestion for the airport; in Tampa Fl, USA, they have like 3 next to each other; 1 for commercial, 1 for international, and 1 for domestic. Obvi we could only imagine Skylines to be as productive as rl, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to take their contruction into place. maybe split up the airport: maybe make an oval or heart-shaped airport, name it Bowser Hart Airport Regional, and have it divided for commercial and passenger flights.
