Love Maiden, lifelong fan since 12, and just got back into modelling. Funny thing is, once I discovered bands like Maiden and girls, I quit building over 30 years ago. Well, I got the urge to build again and just ordered this kit (kind of ironic)! Now I need to brush up on my character painting skills to do Eddie some justice! Up the Irons! They honestly have so many songs they could make kits from, the R101 airship comes to mind (Empire of the Clouds).

its great that they put so much thought into the model.. i loved the references.. Bruce Dickinson is a licensed pilot by the way.

I just bought this kit with the idea to build it for a good friend who is in his 50s and still loves Iron Maiden. I thought I could push thru this build, but the Revell kit is pretty weak for a 2014 release. I think I’m going to get the Kotari Mk I kit and just use the Iron Maiden decals from this kit. And Eddie, of course.

@@asdf9890 yup, went all out! Blinking lights, spinning propeller. Carved out some of the cockpit instruments, added some transparent color foil for lights....even added a mp3 player to the diorama to play Aces High (the one with Churchill's speech). You press a button on the side, song starts to play, lights come on and the propeller gets going...😞 Only thing I couldn't make work, the stupid engine sound....and smoke. Why did I do it?! My Marine brother beat cancer!!!! But, that's the small part. I just love him! Semper Fi! Do Or Die!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Eddie fits perfectly in the built-in cockpit. You should only adjust it to the seat and the stick with his arms and legs beforehand when the cockpit is being built.

Always wipe front to back! Doesn't only apply to model making.

Great video. What gloss do you use? I've heard of solvaset causing issues with undercoats (paint or clear), anything you do to avoid this?

We used Tru-Color gloss on this build. It's a lacquer based clear that dries very hard very quickly. The gloss, decals, and weathering was probably done within the span of a couple hours and as you see, we're not being overly gentle with the Solvaset or scrubbing off the enamel wash.

What's the relevance of the decal that says "The Afterlife Part 1"? I can't find it in any song titles or lyrics or anything like that.

Live after death album n/or the song powerslave from the same album as aces high. Hell look at the album cover, Egypt was big n2... wait for it... Drum roll The afterlife
