Really nice compact rig. What makes it great is you have the V-Lock plate attached to the camera. I have C300 MK II and you have to start putting rods on, so it automatically gets bulkier as you need base plate etc, etc.

This was inspiring. I’m actually back to building my perfect rig for my pocket 6k. I found myself leaving my pocket behind for the simplicity and easiness of the C70 but I actually prefer the image of the pocket. I started it a year ago and got annoyed and frustrated, and then stripped it down for a battery grip. Now I have everything except the matte box. Great rigs are a game changer for the experience. Helps you really appreciate the getting the “shot” plus your back and shoulders will thank you in 15-20 years of doing it. 😂

This video was so helpful, I’ve been looking for an affordable top plate for my c300 since it came out and not wanting to spend way too much money on the wooden camera one, thanks bro!

You had me running to check my SmallRig top plate to see if I have those same holes that can support the stock Canon mic mount! Can't believe I missed them until now! I'm running a C200 (with the Ikan C200 cage), but have the C200 SmallRig plate, too. Just a note, on the C200, because of the EVF hump, the SmallRig plate is meant to be used with the tapered end towards the EVF, otherwise it doesn't fit. This means that the mic holder screw holes end up just a centimetre higher, more or less, and don't get pushed forwards and to the left like they do on the C300 because you're able to use the top plate the other way. I was really pumped for a second there!

Nice build! 👏🏾 At last someone that talks about the balance of a rig being of prime importance, I see way too many people on KZfaq that build fantasy rigs that I know are just not practical in the field and after that I just cannot take them seriously again for some reason!😂

I do. Even triple or quadruple but I use tentacle Track Es for this. So no need to attach to the camera except for the timecode generator.

Cool Set-up Damion! So you switch sensor modes when you add the 18-35? Does the 35 end of the sigma also work in full-frame mode?

Looks great! For my setup I do a very similar setup! I run my nato rail forward/back instead of side to side so I can adjust the top handle balance on the fly. Also! I add Canon BP60 batteries under the full frame mount as a backup. The camera runs the Vlock down first, so when it dies I can hotswap and keep the camera running if that might be needed. Plus it's an hour of insurance if the vlock goes down earlier than expected. I also sometimes split out the full frame adapter's dtap power to a distro with 3-4 additional dtaps and power my accessories off that so when I do a battery swap I don't need to unplug the transmitter.

Hi - I got the swit monitor and am using the canon viewing lut for clog 2 on the c70 - I can never get the swit to match the canon lcd colour / it’s either too warm or too blue - any tips? Thanks!
@damiencooper
@damiencooper 2 жыл бұрын
yes, don't use the view assist. For some reason it's not the actual lut. The LCD uses a lut the HDMI uses view assist. No idea why. I loaded the original LUT from Canon on the Swit and that works

Surprised you don't use the rear EVF. I find that very useful in extremely bright environments, even with a 7" ultra-bright monitor.

The Canon C300Mk3 has timecode. Why do you need that Tentacle Sync connected to the camera?
@damiencooper
@damiencooper 2 жыл бұрын
to jam it in there. I technically don't have to have it connected but timecode drifts after a while and I also had some issues when switching frame rates often. So having it on there is safer

Why would cine lenses use more battery power?
@damiencooper
@damiencooper 2 жыл бұрын
😂 I knew someone would ask that when I edited the video. They don’t. But they’re heavier and the bigger battery helps with balance

I think this is a great setup, but personally I would NEVER use it for documentary work. Even if I had 20k budget for my camera setup, I wouldn't feel so comfortable running around with something that expensive. I don't want to catch the attention of people. I think especially for documentary work story is key and smaller more affordable cameras like the Sony A7Siii or BMPCC4K can do a great job as well and can even win awards if the story is good. Good YT channel though! Keep up the work!
