Today at Badgerworks, we head for the stars. We've had this Revell Millennium Falcon for a while now, and it caught our eye so we decided to build it.
Turns out the design of this kit made it ideal for adding a little bit of light, a battery and a built in charging circuit.

Just found your channel, I used to model back in the late 90's with my brother we did some big models, dam I going back and do it again. Thanks for your videos, and I just found all my airbrushes and drill sets.

Sir!! I’m building a few Falcons & working on lighting them - your “tutorial” was just exactly what I’ve been looking for - many of those out there, tell you they DID light their model but don’t go into the soldering etc. You did - and well, too. I especially appreciate the battery/ motherboard/ USB charging function you included! Thank you! You also made it entertaining and have the links - I’ve liked 👍 & subscribed & am sharing. Keep it up! Great Falcon as well!

I made a kit of this when I were a lad. It was the large scale kit, I think it had internal lighting not sure. I do remember being extremely proud of the finished model. I'd weathered it and created battle damage......... Looking forward to going through you videos.

I did what you said I found a non profit in North Carolina that is going to be sending me some models hopefully I get what I asked for Which is p51 stukas junkers spitfire and modern jets just thought I would give you an update Semper fi

great job there...but.... i would have put the led strip the other way round to reflect the light off the light plastic behind the clear strip, i thin it would have got rid of the bright spots

Yes, there are a number of ways this could be improved. This was more a "proof of concept" - I saw the space and fitted some lights to it, but there's certainly room for improvement. I have some tiny 0805 LEDs (2.0mm x 1.2mm) - they're great fun to solder by hand... :-)

It's RAF Dark Green 2 (XF-81) normally, but point taken. I've got a couple of X wings and TIEs somewhere - you've given me an idea... ;-)

Those LED lights looks sooooo good! I can not wait to paint my own MF :) by the way... you have made this model on a stand. But I am planning to make a diorama for it with Mos Eysley scratch model nearby. Does this kit provide ... landing legs? You know, those parts that the ship stands on. Ps. Subscribed ;)

Thanks. The switches came from ebay. I buy them in bulk from vendors in China. It's a basic on/on toggle switch. If you don't want to buy 50 at a time like I do, there are more local vendors who sell smaller amounts but they'll cost a bit more.

Which Usb charging cable do you use? I think you will have a problem to find one which fits between the two front elements of the falcon. Best regards

It was a normal cable, but I did have to shave off a little plastic on the connector to make it fit.

I'm about to start making airfix models, but I don't have the money to buy an airbrush, and I am not willing to buy one of those Chinese knockoffs due to the various inconsistent issues with them, Is hand painting the models an option, and if so, what's the most effective way of doing it to get a good even coat?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I've heard people say that adding a drop of retarder to the paint to make it dry slower works with Tamiya paints, and I think the Revell Aqua Colour paints are designed to be brushed, but I think the best advice would be the same for airbrushes - several thin, light coats and build it up, As for the Chinese brushes, I've actually had good results with mine - I used it in another video if it helps: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNxdo6qo07nFmXk.html

Check out Rob BasicModelling (no space between c and M). He is a Brit Modeler from Sweden and does all his work by hand.

I'm running an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS with a .35 needle. Not sure I'm equipped to do small details as such. Shame. I've got a Bf-109 in queue that needs that splotchy German camo pattern. I don't build enough models to justify another airbrush.

You might be able to. I find the most important thing is practice - for really close in work, I find the best thing is thin the paint a little more and drop the air pressure. Try practising on on old kits, a bit of paper, anything. Best of luck to you.
