In this video I Work on the lid of the dutch tool chest I have been working on for the past while. It was satisfying seeing everything come together as the lid is one of the most important features on this chest. Enjoy.

My grandpa got me into woodwork and knowledge of the tools. I'm a welder by trade but wood Is just so elegantly worked and the gratification from a job well done trumps some of even my best metal work. There's just a finesse required and once acquired feels like nothing else. Eoin definitely resparked my desire to do quality stuff in my free time rather than working steel. It's cheaper and more relaxing.

Looking good that, like a proper old craftsman's box from years gone by. Jaysus though she's a beast of a yoke! Only noticed when you took it off the bench with nothing in it, you'll need a team of lads to shift that when its full! Might be worth some castors on the bottom so when you do have it down on the ground you can at least move it around yourself

Thanks for all the content recently! My DTC has a fall front as opposed to your doors; yours is the first I’ve seen with them, but I’m certain you can latch yours closed for moving in the same way; using battens slid down the inside front from the top. I built mine taller too, to give me more storage and to be able to position it higher, but I’m not going to be hauling mine all over like you do. The best part is that since I have a leg and tail vise on one side of my bench and a twin screw face vice on the opposite side, I can roll my tool chest to where I’m working in the barn. The ceiling in my shop is only about 82” high since there’s a loft overhead and building a hanging tool cabinet just wasn’t going to do with that. But I’ve got to say the DTC is actually one of the best ‘tools’ I actually have/use and I’m super happy with form and function. Thanks again brother and I look forward to seeing what you get into next 👍

Sizing your lid, if it's anything up to a 10mm il take a plane to it rather than rip it off, same as you did...... with a heavy set foreplane you'd fly through it sure 😁🤙 When I was buyin my hand tools I had to get most of em from England, couldn't find anyone in Ireland with what I wanted...... thankfully it was a while ago now so I didn't have to pay import charges like we do now. I'm enjoyin your videos lad 😁

Little tip, if you don’t have a screwdriver to loosen the chip breaker and you’re in a pinch you can use the bottom edge of the lever cap. I think this works on most Stanley’s but not sure about other brands
