You should use tie rod end Joints on the linkage behind the seat so you have a pivot point for when your suspension compresses, so it will not twist or snap your linkage

With your skills, I bet you can make a 4 speed transmission. Imagine being the only one to do such a feat. You can use a car type shifter with first through fourth in the same position on a car. You can use your existing setup to but add a different jackshaft that gets driven by your current jackshaft to add gears 3 and 4. The existing jackshaft will be controlled the same way it currently is using front and back motion to shift the current jackshaft. You can add lateral motion to control the new jackshaft so when in position 3 (top right) it will move the new driveshaft to an overdrive mode which will allow 2 more gears. The new transmission will have a 1:1 gear ratio and a small overdrive ratio. Position 1 (top left) and position 2 (bottom left) it will drive exactly as it does now due to your existing transmission driving the new 1:1 ratio resulting in the exact same setup as you have now. Position 3 (top right) and position 4 (bottom right) will now put the new transmission in the new overdrive mode giving you two faster gears.

Trifiiniti like a humV cart, long suspension travel for doing baha runs across the field. That's so cool. Gives me ideas for when I build mine. Maybe even like a front wheel assist and shaft drive. It's easy to build a differential.

Have to say. Damn good job b, youre doing stuff the other kart channels dream of doing. Anyone can slap a 420cc on a kart and call it a "build". You make a WHOLE KART and transmission and that is a true build. In the future i see a few LS swaps once you get into old trucks/cars

You could use cables for the transmission, you can't use one cable, because you can't push, but you can use two and pull-pull (one pulls to first, one pulls to second, you can pull to neutral too), this would help keep weight down and would allow much more flexibility so you don't have to worry when the suspension moves.

I’d put weather stripping on the inside perimeter of the body panels, then clamp them on drill through with a 1/4-20 tap drill. Tap the holes in the pipe frame, then drill out the tap drill holes in the panels to loose clearance. Hen bolt the panels on. The weatherstrip will deaden the vibration.
@doopfdeckel
@doopfdeckel 6 жыл бұрын
Cool to see you drive. You should make rear suspension adjustable. There should be no problem driling more holes in a bigger piece of steel. Dont put more panels on, it's far to heavy already.

I'm new to the channel but you are doing some awesome work! I really like the look of the kart. I'm excited to see what 2nd gear looks like. For the panel up front I was thinking you could use 8 bolts, 4 on each side and use rubber spacers between the panel and the tubing. That would eliminate contact with the metal preventing the noise. Or, you could use silicon/RTV and spread that on the tubes and other contact surfaces, then rivet the panel on sandwiching the Silicon/RTV between, also eliminating the noise. Lastly you could look for a Lexan panel, or fiberglass panel to use instead which would be less noisy.
