Love how simple you made your build and you showed everything. I’ve got a 1956 12 ft mirrocraft that I bought from the original owners son. Tons of rivets in it and I can put it on the water all day without a drop of water coming in. My grandpa gave me a 15hp Johnson that I’m gonna run on it. I’ve been running it stock but these videos have inspired me to get going on it. Really appreciate your vids. Keep em coming

Great vid and awesome boat maybe in the future since you said some of your buds like to sit all the way in the front you could find a seat eventually and put a swivel mechanism and pole to sit it on so then you could mount all the seats. Get you some red translucent butt connectors. Wire nuts are meant for residential wiring. Also, even though they are LED lights, always unplug them when dipping the trailer in water. Be sure to use good heat shrink at each connection then tape or they'll fail by next season.

Sweet video! Watched several looking how to redo mine. I have exactly the same boat. Had it for years and it’s still an average row boat. Yours is the best set up I’ve seen so far. Going to tackle it this summer for sure! Question for ya tho. Something I’ve been worried about putting a higher floor in the front....does it feel really tippy when you have someone standing up there and your trolling??
@MissionForFishing
@MissionForFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly the deck helped with both stability and storage. I think its attributed to heavier objects being closer to the bottom of the boat and an increase in walkable area. I was pretty surprised when I first used it and it’s been an improvement to the boat, we’ve had two guys standing up front and I’ve stood on the back bench with no accidents or spills and that’s about as tippy as I’ve ever had it. Its still not 18 footer stability and never will be, but for a 12 foot boat it’s pretty manageable. I think stability really has more to do with gross weight and placement than anything, but that’s just a thought. Hope this helped!

I just got a 14 footer myself. Think I’m going to steal a couple of your ideas though mines going to mostly be at home on the rivers and creaks here in Missouri so making it as nice as yours is out of the question especially when you factor in I’m mostly after catfish. Love the way yours turned out if life circumstances were different I’d almost copy what you’ve done but with alpha gal syndrome I’m kinda driven to go after fish I’ll actually eat rather than bass though who knew maybe in the future I’ll get a second boat

If you have the part number I would check Ebay first. If nothing comes up I'd try contacting a marine salvage place or a marine dealership. You would more than likely pay more at a marine dealership, but chances are if they have it, it would be OEM. I know there are also a few places out there on the internet that sell aftermarket replacements too. Hope this helps!

what you're using to secure the deck frames to the boat hull?
@MissionForFishing
@MissionForFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Well mainly gravity and friction. Since their removable they all fit like a tight jigsaw puzzle. They use random supports and the original bench seats to keep all of them fastened to the boats hull. (this might get confusing but maybe you can find parts in the video that show these better.) There are two bench supports on the middle seat. The front deck has two notches cut into it where these supports slide in and keep the front deck from moving back and forth. The side console is notched between both the front and back decks, as well as the sides of the original bench seats. the back deck uses the furring strips mounted underneath it to bunk up along side the back bench seat to prevent it from moving around. I hope this was somewhat understandable. The whole think is overcomplicated but it kinda has to be to retain the "removeable" feature.

Yep, it looked great for the better part of 3-4 months but started to lose a lot of its gloss shortly after. I think if a guy wanted to really get it right, a spray gun with some automotive or marine grade equivalent paint would be best.

How is it on rough water with the 2 motors, gas, and added deck weight on the back? Didn't catch if the battery for your electronics and trolling motor was back there too or did you relocate that to the bow? My 12 footer has only 8HP outboard and i saw yours is bigger/heavier. I have to put the 25L jerry at mid of boat and the trolling motor on bow or its no fun in choppy water to reduce waves/water splashing in over the transom when its weighed down too low even with one 180Lb person . Mine is rated for 660Lbs maximum, would adding a 200Lb passenger put you over for weight on your rig, or get you into trouble on choppy water?
@MissionForFishing
@MissionForFishing 3 жыл бұрын
On rough waters it is a little interesting. We have had a 220lb friend on a lake with 4 foot whitecaps and as long as the boat is ballasted correctly the chop doesn’t send water over the side, it’s the wind that does. I do have my anchor and battery routed up to the front deck to ballast the nose down to help with getting on plane. We have had three guys in the boat, all about 150lbs plus the battery, two motors, and gear and we did manage to bury the nose in a two foot wave. This is a really good question and I hope this has been helpful. I will definitely touch more on this next week in a video walkthrough of the boat.

How do you speed things up on video editing like you did?
@MissionForFishing
@MissionForFishing 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on what editing software you use. For my purposes I use Davinci Resolve where its referred to as a "speed change". I've also used premier pro in the past. The only downside is you need a beefy computer setup to watch it back real time which is a necessity. Otherwise if you know you want to speed up a specific shot before filming you can always set up a time-lapse which is much easier to manage in post production and is done on the camera itself.

My grandpa actually built that trailer himself from an old camping trailer and sold it to me with the boat. If your looking for a trailer I’d check Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, or a junkyard. Chances are it probably won’t be in great condition but it’s nothing that some hard work can’t fix. And if your looking at where to start I have two trailer restoration videos up on the channel.
