When I go to build my gmt800 lifetime Duramax I know where I'm going for diff and axle work. T case and Allison too, and of course the rds turbo. I could see myself driving to Kodiak and making a vacation out of it. Rent a car for a week while the truck is getting worked on. There's preventative maintenance, then there's lifetime bulletproofing. Sick work here.

2006 GM LBZ doing the same thing. Already finished front end . Working on engine, trans, transfer and rear end. Any suggestions on the engine other than GM reman?

I suggest banks diff cover, it actually serves a function over the other diff covers on the market. Powder coat it to match would be 🔥

Go with banks diff cover, he proved the flat back covers cause fluid to foam up and builds more heat!

Looks good. I'll never understand why GM insists on using those lower U-bolt brackets. All their axle tubes end up pitted. I welded up one side and it was such a PIA that I ended up going over it with JB Weld lol.

Need to name that rear end “ Barney” now ….. after that purple Kids Dinosaur show… 😆👍. Looks pretty damn good . And Yes , most people don’t have a clue as to how much labor & time & effort it takes to do this stuff properly. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together at the end . At 16:20 you say: "I don't think that would have done a lot, though", talking about the machining "chip" or debris from the axle plant that Mark was showing. WRONG!! I'll be picking up my 2022 3500HD dually from the Chevy dealer tomorrow, after two weeks of waiting for parts to complete the warranty (thankfully) repair on my 30K mile differential. The mechanic found a piece of debris like that between the carrier bearing race and the housing. It warped the race and wore the bearing unevenly, eventually causing a "warbling" sound that I thought was a tire tread separation. As an old fried used to say: "If they had done it right the first time..."!

Hey now, I live out here in “ Commiefornia” and if a bird shits on most trucks we sell ‘em right away…. 😆👍😜. Kidding …. But it does make me appreciate the fact that I don’t have to deal with the salt / corrosion issues that the East deals with . Hell , with our current Gas prices I couldn’t afford to fix rust if I had any … 🤨🤬. Good video as always . Thanks.👍

Why would you not show the actual diff rebuild on a video that says diff rebuild. Would have been nice to see Mark actually rebuild the diff instead of a bunch of powder coating and pretty stuff. But it does look sweet

It's cast iron so it takes some knowledge to weld it right. But right doesn't always mean it looks good when it's done just that it works well lol
