I love watching a "real person" doing a video. By that I mean, what you see is what you get, and no embellishment for the sake of flash. You show all the processes, not just the highlights. The fact that you are an immensely talented and creative wood artist is a major reason to keep watching your videos. Keep doing what you are doing, and I think your channel will go far.

I love the attention to detail even though you don't have the biggest, most expensive tools in the shop. (Or a drum sander) If most people just watched the last 3 minutes of the video or saw photos of the finished product, they would think you're using bigger and more expensive equipment than you are. Well deserved thumbs up.

I knew you were a Canadian boy when I fell in love with this channel! By now, I assume it's safe to say Congratulations is in order! Enjoy your precious babies while they're little, because before you know it they'll be 22 and moving 6000kms away. Love your work, from smack dab in the middle of nowhere, Nova Scotia!

Love the design you use for this. I've watched loads of chaotic board videos and was thinking why has no one used diagonal cuts to put even more chaos in, something I wanted to try, glad to see the thought can work 👌✌️

Your process is the same as what a quilter does in piecing together that the pattern, cutting this to fit this, so that their pattern turns out the way the quilter expects it to turn out. If one row is wrong, the pattern won’t be correct. And so on and so on. I can totally understand what you are going through every day. Good luck in your chosen craft. And I keep watching🤩

feels like half that was a philosophy class and half a cutting board. woah. nice board. you should consider making a tapering jig to do that end grain bandsaw/jointer angle cut on the table saw instead. probably save a lot of time in the long run.

Well, I can see that you have to use the bandsaw for some of your cuts. Bandsaws have terrible infeed and outfeed tables, okay, they don't have any. If you can figure out how to extend the tracks, you could make a sliding table for straight enough cuts so that you don't need to run them on the jointer. Some of your cutting boards are too thick to do on the table saw. I was a production bowl turner for 25 or so years. My preferred finish is walnut oil, specifically from the Doctor's Woodshop in Oregon. Walnut oil will soak in and then cure and harden. Mineral oil provides almost no protection, and is pretty much gone shortly after you apply it. The walnut oils in the store are not the same thing. Worth looking into. Always had bad results with a belt sander, too much up and down. I do like your router with a planing bit on it. I know you can do that with a radial arm saw, and get a 3 inch wide bit, maybe bigger. I would want to square the board up and chamfer the edges a bit first. The drum sander is a nice addition, but the glue messes up your abrasives, unless you use the planer bit first. I did see the one where you did the cutting board out of the white oak wine barrel staves. There were visible lines, which may have been glue lines. If you run the boards through a drum sander before you glue them up, you get a much better fit than you can get with a saw blade edge/surface. Nice work!

found your video through my youtube recommended and subscribed 5 minutes in! I'm not a woodworker myself (yet! maybe when i'm older/more income... too many creative hobbies and too little time as is) - but I always appreciate creativity and good design. the thumbnails and unique pieces drew me in, and it's nice to see someone chatting about their process in a thoughtful and down to earth manner. maybe i'm in the minority but i don't mind longer videos - a video should be as long as it needs to be for the project. i do appreciate that you're considerate of our time and your explanations were clear, kinda makes me curious what your previous job was... don't worry about the filmmaking, you will find your groove over time :) if I can offer some suggestions though - for your process, I would just say 1) think about subtitle placement when framing your shots and 2) when filming, focus on what actions or things to capture are relevant to the narrative of your process. i have found that very helpful when shooting with minimal planning, or when getting b-roll.
