Is it better to build your own cables or to have them custom made? Turns out....neither. sort of...
We're trying to wrap up our 1974 Yamaha DT250 project by having a throttle cable custom made and building the clutch cable from scratch. Neither method ends up working initially as mis-measurements and missing parts wreak havoc on our build's timeline.
After waiting 1 week for parts we manage to alter the custom throttle cable to fit, but our clutch cable is still waiting on a missing piece to come in the mail.
Once the clutch cable is on it will be time to put the finishing touches on the bike and take it for a burn!

Glad to see a rebuild and refresh of a pre '80s model dt250!! I just traded an old Kawasaki Ltd 454 to my buddy for a '77dt250. It also had the oil injection delete done, but the oil lines and speedo cable were just cut. I'll be removing the pump, dual throttle cable and switching to a single and blocking off the case half as well. Really liking how you set the handlebars/barkbusters with hand guards, offers a nice refresh and I m sure some much better ergonomics as well!! Keep up the great work!!

I appreciate the encouragement! I had a kawi 440 for a little while and it's a nice little bike, but the DT definitely has more character. Good luck with your build!

The bike is looking great! How do you work when it's that cold in the garage? Don't think I could do that.

Yeah it's definitely tough! My shop heater will bring it into the 40s, but there's just no getting around being cold

The one that I had before could go about 70 wide open and somewhat downhill. But with off-road tires it didn't feel very good!
