I just purchased 5 acres in humansville Missouri. Myself and husband along with our 5 daughters want to do something like this. We don't have a lot of funds at this moment but there's tons of trees, dirt, and rocks all around.

I have an existing mobile home which needs more insulation. I’ve been looking for something I can add to the outside of my walls to add r value to the home. Trying to avoid taking all the walls apart to increase the thickness as I’ve seen others do. I’ve looked in to straw bale, but that seems to need air and light on both sides, so not great for adding to the outside of an existing wall. What do you think about using cob for my purpose? I don’t want to build a new house because I’ve just had the roof redone and added solar panels to my mobile home.

Curious how the foundation has held up

You say there certain rules you must follow with the foundation, ok, maybe you could include those? Does the gravel act as your drainage? Nearly impossible to do without a back with hoe? Soooo why do all those Cobb structures exist? That seems like a silly thing to say 😆 you think everyone used heavy machinery? Do you have to be high, stoned and or have dreadlocks during the building process when making a cob structure. I ask because every Cob structure video i've watched, the builder/person in charge looks and sounds high as a kite and there is always someone in the video with dreadlocks. I'm not judging, it's just something that i've noticed and was wondering if it was a prerequisite or if they were all just liberals that built Cob homes.

You've motivated me to start with the cob oven but for heaven's sakes, won't you just get past the hippy-dippy chatter and get on with the project?
