Man, I would love a dive into all the art as it was with the ramping growth video.

I'm looking into the kimono detail as it seems similar to the Western convention that women's blouses have the buttons on the opposite side, for ease of a retainer helping to dress a lady. It would seem that reversing the kimono in a similar fashion would help the burakumin involved in the funerary rites, much like some of the ways morticians cheat the clothing onto the deceased in order to make them presentable for viewing. I'm also reminded of the Army tradition of never putting the US of a wool blanket on top, as it supposedly signified a bunk that was now vacant due to the previous soldier's death. I don't know the veracity of the tradition, but I know sergeants major would throw the biggest of fits over little details like that.

I had the same thought, always love seeing the concept art and direction that led to products. Then again, who knows, perhaps a lot of effort from certain World Guides have indeed translated into the base for some of the D&D supplements, for instance!

What for!? Kamigawa was originally made by people from the outside, bringing a distorted and interesting perspective to what Japanese culture really is. Now they went out of their way to ground it more into reality just to please foreign markets, and to revert that magic touch that created it in the first place? No wonder Neon Dynasty SUCKED as a Kamigawa set.

There is an issue when a mechanic is tied to combat yet it doesn't help you do more damage to your opponent. Also how they would die to damage removal since part of their stats were locked behind creature combat. Mechanics that depend on your opponent usually just don't work.

@@faerie7dragon I disagree. Dies to removal is a weak excuse. Yes, they don’t directly help you deal more damage to the opponent, but they do allow your creatures to survive your opponents creatures in combat. Which in a way, does allow more damage potential via having multiple combat phases.

@@jonathanpeterson1 Assuming you get blocked, else your samurai stays a dinky 2/1, for extra combats to matter, they would need to be blocked and survive several times. Extremely clunky, cute though.

@@Commander_Skullblade It felt more like a 2 set block. Kamigawa should have that as well if theres any justice (and I didnt hate Innistrad btw) instead of moving to an entirely different plane.

I think nezumi rats are coming back.

They build sets to sell singles to Commander players. Tribal support won't sell powerful singles. If you ask me, the technology clashes with Magic's esthetic so hard, I'd buy a box just to burn it, if it didn't give Wizards my money in the process.

@@rosedoesntknow1853 I am pretty sure there are powerful singles and expensive ones for tribal -Morophon, Urza's incubator, herald's horn,coat of arms, door to nothingness to name a few. The reason why WotC do not do tribal decks anymore is because they are afraid that they will get out of hand like how they did with Edgar Markov and UrDragon deck back in the day when they were released in 2017.

Did you watch the video? They show a couple images of snakefolk and even mention briefly how they updated their design. Theyre in there.

I think it's also a bit narrow-minded to assume that guns, drones, etc. are the inevitable destination for weapon technology. A tech-enhanced sword could destroy a standard firearm, with the right tech.
