animated time-lapse steel construction process. we did the presentation for a steel manufacturing company during 2010. as it was kind of new to our country, they wanted to showcase the whole process.and its just an artistic impression.except accident steel bars don't fall from sky in our country. :-) for more info you can mail us at zahid@studiodxine.com

The connections look non-moment resisting, therefore the structure would be unstable in the temporary construction stage and thus would collapse. Bracing or steel/concrete cores should have been installed first to provide construction stage stability.

Great animation. Two questions: 1. what was used for the exterior wall cladding? 2. were the concrete slabs for each floor poured right over those (what appear to be) metal sheets?

Eric, did you ever become an ironworker(hopefully went union if so)? So how much different was structural ironwork than this video displayed? I get the video was more for architectural purpose to show each element of the building... but so much is wrong with how the process is pieced together.... We dont erect steel like that... we stand columns furthest from the cranes reach, and box them in with header beams, then, fill the bay with the stringer beams and repeat... the decking runs with the stingers. Nice finished product. Would have been a nice building to erect.

Really doubt the integrity of the columns as they are fixed with each other with mere fin plates instead of base connections. The shear load will make them fall apart too.

How come the columns are not continuous? Adding a column above another column is not stable as a continuous steel column. And also during the installation of the columns should have temporary bracing, and also at the direction of where the wind blows it should have some permanent bracing between columns in order to have more stability when it comes to windload

Thanks for your comment. It was made during 2009 and we had technical limitation to simulate the exact.
