People in the West mistakenly think that Bulgarian cheese is similar to Greek feta cheese, but it is exactly the opposite. The Greeks copied the recipe for Bulgarian cheese and yogurt. In Bulgaria, cheese has been made for centuries, and in Greece for the last 50 years.

Some inaccuracies. Sophia pride is not national tradition. There has never been repression against people of different sexual orientation. This is attempt for implementation from foreign unfavourable influences to Bulgaria. Bulgaria is one of the most tolerant countries towards the different. Bulgaria is East Orthodox Christian country. Plovdiv is oldest city in Europe. National celebrations day third of March is day of liberty of Bulgaria, which won its independence from the Ottoman yoke during the Russo-Turkish war of liberation for Bulgaria.

Amazing video! What i don't see anyone taking about tho is: - new year feast & xmas eve feast tradition (they're more important than xmas itself, many ppl get together and feast thru the night, dance horo etc) - the calendar (oldest and most astronomically accurate) / the cosmic knowledge of the proto Bulgarians (their emblem was a diagram of 6-8 planets moving around the sun iirc) - the Bulgarians created multiple countries named "Bulgaria", the one that exists today is the only one that survived - medieval history - eg the Bulgarian ruler once prevented Europe from likely being arab-ised - the first capital of the First Bulgarian Empire was called Pliska and in the 800s it had water heating and sewage systems

4:58 №23 - Baba Marta is not just about tying Martenitsi to blossoming trees. On 1st of March, Martenitsi are tied to all people AND animals. So it has created a custom of everyone making or buying Martenitsi and then giving them to their friends and family on the 1st of March. We usually then take off and tie the Martenitsi to blossoming trees after we see a stork, a swallow. In some parts of the country some people take them off after they see other birds, but I myself am not too familiar with that. Usually seeing a Stork or a Swallow is a sign of good luck, this is why we then take off the martenitsa and tie it to a tree for good luck. Although I do know that in some parts of the country, some also throw theirs in rivers, because in Bulgaria there is the saying for good luck "to walk on water", which is a literal wish for things to go as smooth as flowing water. Sorry if this sounds a bit complicated, but I'm unsure about how to phrase our customs in English, since translating them in a literal sense sometimes just sounds like nonsense in English, lmao

There's a lot of natural and historical places in Bulgaria and you can learn a lot stories and legends about them! Like in Ardino ,village which river Arda crosing is the Devil bridge.it is also in the municipality of Kardzhali.The name came from the legends for that how is build this bridge.Before many years on this place there was an ancient roman's briedge as part of a road connecting the Upper Thracian lowland with White Sea Thrace and the Aegean Sea. During 16th centuri one builder named Dimitur accept the chalenge to rebuild it,which was a difficult task because to make something around Arda was dangerouse.The legend say that the Satan offered him that if he build the briedge for 40 days he will reveil to Dimitur a secret with which the briedge will last forever.If he failed the devil will take his soul.Dimitur have succses and fullfield his promise and finished the briedge for less than 40 days, but soon after that he die and took the secret with him.There have and tell that if you stay in the midle of the briedge and look in the river between 11 and 12am when the briedge and the reflectoin of it make circle you may see the face of the Satan.And also you may see a foot print from devil there. We have also The Madarski horseman, The Monument of Shipka ,the old Church of the Nativity of Christ ,which is biger and older sighn for bulgarian culture and arhitecture and spirit.This is the only one church without dome. It look like a normal house because of the time when it's build it should be undercover ,because it was during the slavery.It's not uniqe only for that.There is and the icon painting "The circe of life" Very close to city Karlukovo is the cave "Passable/ Prohodna" famouse as "The eyes of God" . We have many waterfalls like Hotnishki waterfall "Kupinaja" .Also we are more famous with "deer leg" or "venison fut" .Which is a special traditional recipe for flavouring the deer meet with different species ,which is very similar to recipe for proshuto and it is close like taste.But our venison fut is with more rich colourful taste and ingredients ,that we know and make this from many more centuries.The tradition come from Elena/Deer city.You could say something and for our national drink called Rakia.Also the cyrilic alfabet is not only the third oficial language in Europian union but is the first and oldest alfabet on the Balkans.Also Bulgaria is the one and only country whose flag has never been conquered. And that's agen only a few of the places and stories and culture legacies and fortunes of Bulgaria!

Bulgaria is the third oldest country in Europe, after Armenia and San Marino.
@svetoslavstanchev9977
@svetoslavstanchev9977 2 ай бұрын
@@novelcarecyprus5713 Armenia is considered a country in western Asia. San Marino is arguably the oldest country in Europe, but there are many nuances as to whether they were an independent country. But Bulgaria was also not an independent country twice, so it is right to assume that San Marino is the oldest country with the same name in Europe.

Svishtov is the first Bulgarian town liberated from the Russo-Turkish war. The town is small, but beautiful, calm and cozy. Whoever visits it remains fascinated by this city and returns again and again. The city was also a Roman colony before. Because of this, every year they come from Italy, Rome - men, soldiers with their wives and children, families, for a reenactment, to show how it was 2000 years ago, at the time of the Great Roman Emperors - Mark Aurelius, Mark Augustus, Titus , Tiberius, Diocletian, , empress - Julia Domna, Julia Dominicia, Gaius Julius Caesar, Caesarion, Vespasian, Caracalla, Caligula, there are many Roman emperors, also from the Middle Ages. That is why we have a Festival - Eagle on the Danube in Svishtov, at which the Romans show competitive games, horse races, fencing with Roman swords, stone throwing with a bow, long jump, and their women show Roman cuisine.

Minus the fact that some names were said with wrong pronunciation, there are also few details that weren't mentioned. For example, St. Alexander Nevski cathedral has catacombs beneath it. Borovetz has a lot better snow sports roads and is even part of some of the official races for some of these sports. This video was mainly focused on Sofia and showed very little of the rest of my country.

Very good list of bulgarian culture and nature! I would only suggest to double check the pronontiation of the different names when it comes to specifics in a country. I was listening the video as I was working at home and some of the words were not recognisable so I needed to think and decode what it could be. Also the word "wierd" has a negative feeling and you are actually saying exactly the oposite. :) Other than that - kudos, great job!

You don't need months to visit and explore all the wonders of Bulgaria. Just know, you will not starve in the middle of it. My country offers the best cousins in large portions for the cheapest prices you have ever seen. If you wanna get drunk like an animal, we can offer that for the cheapest price. Rakiq is an actual drink that will get you under the table-40C. I went to Turkey- Instanbul and ordered rakiq and instead I got Mastica with so much ice, it felt like I was drinking water. Bulgaria might be small but it will give you everything you need, the cheapest way possible.
