Because youtube hates hunting and chokes their outreach. You basically don't see their videos recommended until you purposely look them up 5-10 times. Same with THP and the rest of the outdoors channels. They'll push fishing videos, but not hunting.

Hey guys, welcome to our backyard! As you found out, that bench is great during archery. If you get one scooped up, you’ll appreciate the bench trail, rather than descending into the “hell hole” (so true!) and making the climb out. Nasty in that bottom. If you catch the trail at the campground you won’t risk taking a swim. Had we known you were coming, we would of provided some local hospitality. Anyways, great to see others appreciating what so many take for granted. Wyoming is awesome!

@@ryankaraszewski4727 Hey Ryan, hope you make it out to WY to give it a go. There are no terrible units for elk here, so make your pick based on travel, WG&F harvest stats considering public / private access, and lace up your boots! The age old quote “elk are where you find them” always applies, so the fun is in the challenge of locating them and spending time in the hills. Pulling the release trigger is the easy part, right? It’s much sweeter and memorable when you find the platter on your own. Good luck on the limited draw.

@@Kfreed22 Lucky enough to have this as a back yard for 47 years. It’s public ground and free roaming elk, so go get them. Truth be told, neither the unit nor the exact location they are hunting is our personal preference, sooooo no worries here - if that says anything. ;) Whether they punch their tag or not, they will always want to come back to WY. Good luck to whoever is fortunate enough to draw a tag and make the trip.

This is why I love BRO. They show what elk hunting really is... a nature hike with a whole lot of nothing going on until the ghost of the forest blesses you with an encounter your not ready for and in a way that doesn't give you a shot. It takes commitment and a strong will to make a successful elk hunt. Took me 6 years to get my first one and it was all worth it. Keep up the good work guys!!!!

Busted story. Public land whitetail hunting years ago with my brother and not 100 yards from the parking lot a giant buck had been bedding down and took off running. He stops 100 or so yards away to look at us and any other time that would have been a fatal mistake on his part. Only it was rifle season and there was a busy highway behind him so we didn't have a safe shot. He took off and ran across the highway to freedom.

Busted: hiked this trail for the first time with a buddy. Really windy, steep trail. Mile hike and we're only 500 yards from the truck. Just before we hit the top of the fridge there's a really fresh rub with tracks headed up the trail. Had a really favorable wind blowing down the hill to us. We continued up the hill, playing it quiet since we hadn't been having any luck with calling. My buddy hits the ridge and the bull sees him, barks, and takes off. He answered my bugle a couple minutes later. 🤦

Seemed like way too much movement and messing with the range finder when the bull was looking at y'all and locked on that something wasn't right. New Mexico 2020 September 18th. Just had a short unproductive encounter with a decent size herd, such as in this video, but was actively talking with and seeing this Bull within 150yds. This was also some of the best calling I’ve done, but he and his left me cold. So, I up and move along the shoulder. Two trees and maybe 15-20yds from my previous spot, as I step around the second tree, is a gorgeous 6x? picking his head up to check out my movement at 20yds. Busted like a kid with his hand in the cookie jar.

I have two busted stories (both happened in the same hunting season too), not for elk though, but for mule deer. 1st one: I was stationed on a hill overlooking a hill face where I had seen a big mulie buck bedded pre-season. He frequented the area, and my neighbor (who I would later hunt with) had seen the same buck up on his property. It was general WA firearm, and i felt pretty confident since I had seen several deer in the area I had chosen to hunt in. Well, I was laying prone, just glassing the area when I spotted movement beneath me. I froze and laid still as a mulie doe jumped up from the logging road I was above and made her way up the hill I was on and practically into my lap. I thought she was going to step on me she came so close. She either saw me or smelled me (probably the later) and I'll tell you what I've never seen a deer jump so high or so far in one leap. She didn't stick around either. Her reaction to busting me still makes me laugh to this day. 2nd story: On the LAST day of general firearm, my neighbor invited me on an evening hunt with he and his son. They had already tagged out and had been seeing the big buck around their property so we hiked up the mountain they owned to see if we could find him, or another buck. We were in a good location, wind was in our favor, and lo and behold I saw movement to my 9 o'clock in the treeline, about fifty yards above us, literally fifteen minutes before the end of legal shooting light. It was the big buck on one of the many game trails that criss-crossed the area. The second he showed up, he had us pegged, and we did not expect him to show up where he did. He flicked his tail and started to move perfectly broadside to us, along the edge of the trees. while he was walking I got set up, but by that time he had stepped behind a pine tree and I was anticipating him coming out on the other side for an easy 60 -ish yard shot. But he never revealed himself. My neighbor couldn't see him, I couldn't see him, and my neighbor's son couldn't see him. It was like he just vanished. When legal shooting light ended we walked up to where we had last seen him, and the old buck had used that stinkin tree as cover and made a L turn and walked right back up the hill and over the top and out of our lives. I was hella bummed, as any hunter can imagine. I moved out of the area before the next hunting season but my neighbor's son told me the following year that their neighbor actually shot the buck. He measured 30" wide and was a perfect frame 4x4 with some extra kickers and double brow tines-which is just enormous for the area in which I lived in Washington state.

I am just seeing this year's Land of the Free for the first time and came across your comment. I hope your back surgery was successful and that you are no longer in pain. I can completely empathize with you. I am disabled now from a spine injury about 11 years ago. I've had 7 (mostly failed) back surgeries in the last 10 years and have permanent non-repairable damage to my sciatic nerve as well as other nerves and other spine-related problems. I hold onto hope that, with all the things medical science can do, they'll figure out this one in my lifetime, lol! To anyone reading this... take care of your backs, folks!!

We were turkey hunting. My uncle had to do a number two which he never does in the woods, he’ll literally drive down from the mountain to go back to the house. Anyways, he went off a little ways from us to do his business without his shotgun. During his number two session he started coughing and was trying to muffle the sound. During that a Tom came in and started gobbling to his coughing. The bird came in 35-40 yards while he his pants were down to his ankles and he had no gun. 🤣

Gotta be honest guys I'm disappointed. If I've already taken shots at animals, unless it's a clean miss, that's it for me. If I've drawn blood that's game over, tag punched. How long do you think that bull Warb shot in the shoulder is gonna last? That's essentially a death sentence whether by infection, predators or winter. If you can't recover an animal that's been hit like that than your season is over. Nobody likes cutting a season short especially when it's been disappointing but what can you do? I didn't write the book on hunting ethics but I would've expected a little more.

I got busted by a buck last year. Took my brother with me on archey mule deer hunt last year. We parked near a ridge and hiked about 2 miles to glass a nice basin. Sneak in all quiet and get set-up. I whispered directions and then I hear a very loud snort about 10 yds. There's some stomping and I hear a deer run off. I drop down and look at my brother. He asked me what that was. I said didn't you feel the snot on the back of our necks, we just got busted. I couldn't believe that buck let's us get so close to begin with. Saw him circle back, go down to the bottom of the basin and run straight up the other side. Pretty much ruined my morning.

We got caught with our pants down sitting right before dark and resting on the hood of the truck had the rifles in the truck and a bull and 6 cows walk right up within 10 yrds of the truck and busted us had a snow storm roll in so visibility wasn’t the greatest but it was a fun evening

Pro tip #420. You can always find elk where they are...🤣

15 years old. Tired and cold wearing all the warm stuff I brought to elk camp. End of a cold morning sit and headed up an old closed jeep trail back to camp with my gun strapped diagonal across my back. 1/4 mile from camp and kicking rocks (literally). Six point bull skids to halt and stares me down at 15 yards. He waits for me to move before making his move. He bounds off into the woods and second later, BOOM! Another hunter who had wisely paralleled the noisy kid on the jeep trail shot him that monster right in front of me. I had to walk over and follow up to talk with him standing over that elk that busted me while kicking rocks and walking down the trail unprepared to aim or shoot. I’ve never carried a gun or bow on my back again now 30 years later... I also never had an elk meet me on the road so smugly again though either so....🤷‍♂️

Busted: My hunting partner and I got a bull to strike up down in a basin. I said “before we get this party going I gotta take a crap.” I walked off 60 yards and relieved myself. A minute later the bull hammers off again now maybe 150yds away, then at less than 100. Then he winded us. I’m sure he really thought I stunk like shit 😂

Two seasons ago, I parked the truck. Walked about 50 yards and busted the herd out before my hunt had barely begun.

Most embarrassing? Caught with my pants down...literally! Bow out of reach. Watched as he walked away. Guess he didn’t like what he smelled.😄

@@bornandraisedoutdoors I know you guys are working on the ad problem. My 2 cents... Use some royalty free music and monetize your videos. I would much rather have the ads knowing you guys are benefiting from it. Here is a sample (artlist.io/song/15786/howling-at-the-moon) of a royalty free song that has a similar feel to Savages. I think something like this would keep the same feel to your intro. Love your stuff!
