Because you have the option to ignore. You don't wrestle with a pig in the mud. I've been taunted by dogs in my games, I just ignore them, and If we win, it's just a "gg wp" and walk away. If you trash talk back, you lose your ground. Recent Ephey situation is a pretty good example. If she had just ignored the guy and didn't defend her toxic friends, everyone would be on her side of the argument.

@@burnsyy9119 Characters: Ephey(ES), her friend(OD), her teammate(AM) Assuming AM played poorly, OD kept using Astra on the AM. AM tilted, and maybe some shit happened, which resulted in him buying a URN and putting it in Ephey's Inventory. Context: Ephey's mom is undergoing Chemo therapy. Ephey tilted and said something like"I work at valve, I'll get you banned" How the drama started: AM made reddit post pointing out the "I work at valve". Ephey made twitter post, pointing out the URN thing. Some random ppl, dug around and found that the OD player is toxic every game "That guy ruins almost every game". People's opinion: 1- Some ppl are mad at the guy for the URN thing. 2- Some ppl are mad at Ephey for pulling the authority card in pubs. 3- Some ppl are mad at her for continuing to party with that toxic friend. "Just cause you work at valve, you or your friends can't go around ruining games". *The "_", are comments from respective parties. Anyway, that's all I loosely gathered.
