So yeah, this game is an odd wee thing but i kinda dig it for being different and doing what it set out to do well. But real time puzzle action is probably not for everyone. That said, solo gamers take a look at this one because if it clicks for you its one helluva good puzzle time.

Strongly agree re: Solo. A little bit of a miss that they didn't list difficulty of the enemies (I snagged a fan list off BGG) but it eliminates the real time and is a wonderful lunch break game.

Sorry, also of note is i used the bullet upgrade pack and some promos. It all came in the same box for me so i forgot.

This is my #1 favorite game. I have over 300 plays and am still not bored. I will agree that it is not for everyone but it is great for me. I rarely play the timed mode as I am often showing new players or am playing with people who don't like the time stress. It works just fine without the timer.

I love this game mainly of its theme. Lvl99 set out to make a board game that encapsulates the feel of a bullet hell shmup (mainly toho). It has that tension and how most shmups isnt much about firing as many bullets as posisble but great positioning and surviving till the next phase. Lvl99 is so good with taking a theme and just making a board game that encapsulates that theme. Their other game, Millennium Blades, is just *chef's kiss*

#1 solo experience of all time. I was doing research toward my dissertation in Texas, my partner and pups remaining home in California, and this game literally helped me get through the days of loneliness. I would also place it my top 20 games in general

Great review of an excellent and polarizing game. I'm one of the people who loves this, and I totally agree it's not suitable for broad recommendation. I would note the music made for setup and each character (functioning as a round timer) is also great and enhances the experience.

So people are aware: the bullets and player tokens shown in the video all come from a separately purchased upgrade pack. The in box tokens are all cardboard rather than chunky wood.

Hey! Diehard Level99 Games fan here. Have you ever played BattleCon? (or Exceed, i guess...) To me it's their magnum opus - I've got hundreds of hours in it and I think it might appeal to your 2p strategy sensibilities. Only caveat is that it's a biiiiit crunchy, a TCG-ish, and some older sets are hard to find. Anyways you make great videos - well written and to the point, even outside of your shortform content. You've put me on to some great games. Keep up the good work!

I want to buy this game as I love it. However, it may be easier to play on tabletop simulator than in real life. The game naturally plays like a computer arcade game.

Looks really interesting! Even with the existence of Danmaku, this feels like it could make a really solid Touhou board game as well.

I have to google that now. Ah yep, that's the stuff the publisher said the game design was inspired by. I've never seen any of those bullet hell shooters so it was all new to me.

Actually got to play this game for a bit in my first-ever board game convention sort of thing! I got wrecked first try, and by the looks of it, this game could stretch out for quite a while, but maybe it's because everyone else was also as new as I was.

I wonder if you asked for a review copy or if you were contacted because your channel fits the 3-minute game just right. Looks interesting, but not sure if the game fits my group. Interesting how both the gameplay and theme/style are for quite niche audiences.

Level 99, the publisher, contacted me and I said yes. BUT, that's because 3 of their games are in my top 100. Argent the consortium, Millennium Blades and Empyreal: Spells and steam, which are all weird and wacky unique games with anime art and themes. And while this one isn't quite the hit with me as the others, i think its great solo and excellent for what it is. That is to say, it sets out to be a real time puzzle game and it nails that. My appetite for that sort of game isn't high though

I don't care a jot for anime either, but level 99 do some pretty damned amazing games. IIRC i have 3 of them in my top 100

Can't say it's my jam either. But it is on a few games i think are amazing, all by this publisher. Millennium blades and Argent the consortium are stone cold classics for me.
