This time I'm back in the train traffic management game Mini Metro, and this time I try to make the most of circular lines. I discover that bullet trains are overpowered in Mini Metro and the best way to get high scores in Mini Metro!

Fun fact: high-speed trains are mostly high-speed because they're on their own high-speed lines with few, if any, stops. When they're not on high-speed lines, they're essentially as fast as any other train. Specifically, as fast as the next train ahead.

I like holding onto two trains and one line. That way I can draw a single point to point line when something gets busy, then delete the line as soon as the train is loaded. The train will continue to the previously set destination, but I've then got a train and line in my pocket to catch the next emergency right away.

I think the best strat for the bullet train is if a line from one station to another is very long so it could be used to move on distance
@RegebroRepairs

I need to reinstall this and try. I'd put a bullet train on a line just serving the one-off stations. A bit longer between stations, and all other lines have a short route to the bullet-line where all the one-off guys can change. I feel those one offs were always causing me trouble.

If you're gonna use the Shinkansen, you need to make the most of it by covering large distances with it. For example, have it go from one side to the other with only a couple of the more popular stations. On short stops you're not allowing it to get up to full speed, essentially wasting it. Also try to avoid right angles and sharp turns as much as possible. It really slows the trains down, even if they're not stopping at the station. Your dark green line has way too many sharp turns making it really inefficient.

@Athanatosti
@Athanatosti Жыл бұрын
You should probably be using more circle lines (as in making the line loop back onto itself). It's way more efficient than having a back and forth line.
Жыл бұрын
They are not more efficient, it depends on the map and on the player's gameplay. Especially on Osaka with the Shinkansen, you will often have long lines travelling across the map and loops won't help at all.
@Temperans
@Temperans Жыл бұрын
@ you could potentially use a loop with a shinkansen to shuffle people from the outer areas without having to go through the middle. But that is a questionable strat.

Interestingly Osaka has a main line that is a circle. Very useful to get around.
@kestergreen3844
@kestergreen3844 Жыл бұрын
Loops have an issue where the train will pick up every passenger from every stop. By using lines instead of circles, passengers don’t get on trains immediately. They will wait for the train turn around at the end of the line before they get on and head to their destination. This means more free space for triangles and circles to be collected and delivered.
@Temperans
@Temperans Жыл бұрын
@@kestergreen3844 doesn't that depend on how the loop is set up? Ex: a loop with 3 stations in a line will have the either end wait 1 full rotation in a line, but only 1/3 in a loop. I would agree with you if the loops had a lot of the same stations but I am thinking just having handful of stations each different and spread appart. Then three bullet trains going in the same direction but opposite location can always keep that line relatively clear. The lines would still be useful for the regular locomotives that have to make a lot of stops anyway.
@kestergreen3844
@kestergreen3844 Жыл бұрын
Next time you play try these tips for an easy high score. Take carriages every time they come up. This will carry you through the late game. Every line should have a triangle within the last three stops at each end of every train line. Plan and modify your train lines around this. Unique shapes should be towards the centre of each train line. Each unique shape should be connected to two lines and there should be two unique shapes per line.

I think you might need to pay more attention to the special (rare) shapes (square diamond etc) because if a passenger has to make multiple changes to get to its destination it will clog up the changeover stations. I saw a lot of squares waiting at the end of a line, which leads to them filling the train so that it is less effective in dealing with circles and triangles on the stations in between

All it did was extol all good virtues (real or imagined) of the person that felt deserved a 'Pat on the back.' So now, when I hear someone saying that they should have that, all I can think of is that creature named Pat. I'm assuming Matt wants a Pat on the back now. I wonder how Paddy would feel about that.

You can stop the timer by transferring passengers to a clam station (just add a line with the two stations and delete it after the train departure), of course it is better if the destination can digest some passenger as well. Thus, in the end game, it is just constant pause, add, and delete a train line

You can game the game quite a bit by saving 1 line and 1 train to solve "remote stations" (+ sometimes a carriage for lategame), mainly far away circles and triangles. You never connect them (unless efficient), can usually handle 6-10 and just temporarily connect them long enough to load, depart towards a connected hub, and delete. They dump those passengers and you setup the temp line at the next [highest passenger unconnected station] for repeating.
