Boys. You need vertical stabilization tails on large items with high surface-area ratios. Also, fixed attachment points. That chain and tow strap aren't doing you any favors. Talk to old Mark Robesy about surface area's impact on drift, and vertical stabilization. You could make it another international collaboration. And you'll get more hits on Maxwell.

Ideas. You guys are so awesome it's hard not to share ideas to see more. Subliminal Commtest Enigmas: "What's the farthest distance from the drop zone we've had to clean something up?" "What's the highest distance we've had to clean something up?" "How many hours of footage did this video create before editing?" "What percentage of viewers are not from Australia?" "Should we pair up with Ozzy Man from Australia for good fun and commentary?" "What's the best proverb promoting kindness?" "Between all three of you, how many years of formal education?" "What's the most ridiculous string of 10 words/sentence you can come up with?" Also a few ideas: Ever considered dropping jello or dropping things onto jello? Ever considered putting Rexy in jello and dropping something on that? Slowmo jello can be delightful What if, instead of a pool, you filled it up with syrup? Play around with the consistency / viscosity of the liquid. Dropping hulk into honey or whatever the bullet jelly is they shoot guns into back on MythBusters. That would be really cool. See if you could drop hulk into something and it not make it the whole way through, but also be transparent to where you could watch it descend into the substance. Neato. I'd like to see you drop hulk onto a bean bag chair. Or a ballon filled with a ton of styrofoam beads. Dropping hulk onto a temper-pedic mattress. Memory foam. Or that camping foam stuff. Watching stuff compress can be fun too. Fire. Anything fire. But they probably have rules against that and I don't want yall to get hurt. My favorite episodes so far have been the water splashes and watching it thud hard against the sand. It's so beastly and powerful. It makes me want to yell like yall - and to be honest, I've made more noise during your videos than I would admit. Things to drop hulk onto: A dollhouse Legos Trophies A fully cooked meal of veggies. Broccoli. The day of reckoning for Broccoli is deserved. Remember the "will it blend" videos? Dropping hulk onto a running "will it blend" blender would be great. No. It doesn't blend. Haha I would love that The aluminum ball challenge would be fun to see someone drop hulk onto. Make a giant ball of aluminum foil. Drop Thor onto it. See how much it would compress. A big big cube of square rubber. Like tire rubber. Can you make hulk bounce? That would be an impressive accomplishment. Big fan of bouncing. Remember the movie Independence Day where they blow up the buildings with that blue beam. If you could build a sky scrapper model, and drop hulk's hand onto it from above, that could be really fun. A slow mo video of the eiffel tower or the empire state building being demolished from the top down - instead of king kong, it could be rexy. Delightful Recreating movie scenes with Rexy would be fun. King Kong on top. If you could smash the big round ball like it's the indiana jones boulder into something indiana jones theme, delightful. Maybe have Hulk smash superman. Or the meteor hitting Rexy. Godzilla v Rexy+Thor (I would like to see Rexy tied to the top of thors hammer as thors hammer descends RIDICULOUS would make me smile for sure!) A Furby - Sitting on top of Bullet Proof Glass. That would feel good. Making an epic sand castle below and destroying that would be neat. You can have professional sandcastle makers do some impressive stuff for surprisingly cheap - although getting them there might be expensive. It would be awesome if you could do something that would have a rainbow reflection type explosion - like 1000s of cds that reflect in cool ways. Or glass with interesting reflection properties. An explosion of rainbow - nice. How many things do you have that are spring loaded? Seeing springs fly out all over the place would be fun. Compressed metal springs everywhere. Have fun guys! I had fun thinking about it and writing it out. Thanks for sparking joy. You've lifted my spirits grrrrreatly

14:58 The reason the class doesn’t crack all the way to the edge is that the layers of glass have all been tempered, by heat treating them during the manufacturing process. The tempering process creates incredible amounts of internal strain/stress, making the glass super hard, but also very brittle. The edges of the glass panes have much less internal strain than the center, making them softer and therefore less brittle, but simultaneously easier to break. The simplest analogy for why “strained” glass is so much stronger is, essentially, glass can bend a certain, set amount before its tensile or compressive strength gives out, and it cracks. The strain kinda pulls the glass back strait so it can resist harder objects and forces. Think of it as a rope that you can pull on really hard and be just fine, but if you bend it more that a little, it’ll snap. If you pull the rope really tight, you can put more weight on it before it bends too much and snaps. In a similar way, tempered glass pulls on itself really hard everywhere but near the edges, that’s why they are less hard. Edit: grammar and content

They don't reach the edge because typically the edge is the strongest part of glass. It has the most support due to a good strong outline. The middle however, does not have as much strength because it is just glass in the middle with way less support, concluding in the cracks not making it all the way to edges. But the ones that do make it to the edge have most likely had a better hit. The stronger the hit provides the crack enough force and energy to go further. So the ones that didn't make it to the edge also had less of a good hit. Not to make myself sound really smart or anything... No bragging here, and no puns intended

The fact they have a walkie talkie is hilarious, as if they aren't screaming at eachother like they are talking back n forth on a tower that's 4 or 5 times bigger than the one they use. Their quiet video is by far their best one, one hr video n u have a headache from 13minutes of high picted shrieks n yells.

I've noticed something: 1.) Things that are light (relatively) and bulky often miss (maybe getting blown off the target by random air currents). 2.) Things that are heavy and dense (like the fist) fall straight down and always hit the target. 3.) I won't name names, but some of you guys are better at aiming than the others. 4.) The results are always much better if you hang the dropped item from the winch and them make sure the target is directly under the winch and stable before lifting it. 5.) The results are always disappointing when you don't use the winch and check that the target is directly under it.

Comtest: How many times has poor Rexie been to "hospital" for major repairs. Why did the bullet proof glass not crack all the way through? Because it's laminated of several thinner sheets of glass with layers of plastic in between. The plastic sheet gives the pane of glass a bit of flexibility, so one layer can break without necessarily transmitting the crack through to the others.

So three things: First: I keep forgetting about seasonal differences so there's always a moment of confusion when you guys talk about things being cold because I keep forgetting that while it is the height of Summer here, it's winter down in Australia. Second: The reason the glass didn't break all the way is because the crystalline structure of glass in bullet resistant glass is supported by the polycarbonate layers making forces applied to the center less likely to reach the edge of the glass itself. Third: That axe feels like its rusted really quickly.

@MDSF9090
@MDSF9090 3 жыл бұрын
James Chartrand okay, but you’re implying that the speedometer would gauge the rate of speed in which the item accelerated up to for the entirety of the 45m drop. However, they would be shooting the speedometer at a random location towards the last 10 or so meters of the drop, which would be a completely different rate than its impact rate. So no, it would not be very easily calculated without all of those figures.

As far as I understand bulletproof glass is made up of thicker pieces of glass with plastic in between each layer. So it’s glass, plastic, glass, plastic, glass, etc. The plastic is molded on to the glass pieces to hold the glass together which prevents it from shattering all the way to the corners as best it can. Try covering tape over a sheet of glass like a window and throwing a rock at it, the glass will break but the tape (depending on how strong it is) should still hold the glass together. Bulletproof glass is on a more intense scale to the point where the force of impact from whatever object resonates into the plastic so the glass doesn’t take as much damage and the plastics adhesiveness helps hold the glass together to keep the cracks from spreading to the edge every time. 👍🏻
