Those old stores treated its employees very well. Today's corporate chains are the worst.

These ladies (and gentleman) and their families were part of the “greatest generation.” They defended our freedoms in war, built the great buildings and founded and run companies who gave prosperity to millions of Americans.

I remember My Mom shopping at May Co, or Robinsons . And Bullocks. They all had a cafe type eating area. . This was around the 60s and 70s early eighties . She just loved it .

Thank you, Southwestern University School of Law, for restoring this lovely memorable building. All we can do is pray that someday the Tea Room can be opened to the public someday, especially now in 2024 that America is finally on a journey to health.

I remember taking the bus to Bullocks Wilshire with my Mom, often we would have lunch in the Tea Room. So many fond memories.

my husband and i went there often. there was the campest maitre'd there who was so cute.

We had the same thing happen in Philadelphia with John Wanamaker's and Strawbridge and Clothier.

As wonderful as it was that Southwestern saved it, it is almost worse to see it in this cold emptiness. The current tea room in no way resembles the warmth and beauty of what was once there. I question what kind of a city would require a law school to save a building of such magnificence.

I can still remember my Bullock’s account number after all these years, just as I do my Social Security number.

I remember being taken to the Tea Room after my pediatrician appointment for a strawberry malt and cheese burger with onion rings. I long for these days gone by 😢

this was great. i used to live down the street from this building in k town.

I was given a private tour of Mr. Bullock’s apartment adjacent to the tea room. It was wood paneled, had wonderful views of the city and a fireplace.

The buyer’s offices were located in the basement, where all the window props since 1930 were stored in literally every nook and cranny. When the store closed there was a sale of all of these props..

Bullock was a great establishment. Northridge Fashion Mall was the last store I visited

I used to have lunch there with the giftware buyer in the seventies. They carried the West Coast’s largest collection of Boehm Porcelain

This closure happened a year after the LA riots destroyed all of the first floor display cases in this building. I wonder if that had anything to do with its quick closure after that.

Bullock's Wilshire also had a room exclusively displaying Steuben glass (crystal) for sale.

What happened to bullocks? Walmart is what happened.. Amazon is what happened… Outsourcing to China is what happened. The giant sucking sound that Ross Perot warned us about is what happened. Lol
