How to change the oil and filter on a 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander

Here I demonstrate the step by step process of how to change the oil and filter on a Toyota Highlander. This procedure will be the same for Highlanders LE, XLE, Limited, and other canister filter toyota vehicles. The year of the vehicle in this demonstration is a 2019. However, these steps will be the same for Highlanders years 2014-2019 and very similar for other Highlander models.
Items Needed to perform this procedure: New oil (0W-20 - 6 quarts), canister filter kit, oil drain pan, a 14mm socket, a 3/4" drive ratchet and extension, 64mm oil filter remover, rags, and a little bit of knowhow!

Great job! Only thing missing in my opinion would be to lube the O-rings before reinstalling, just to prevent them from catching and snapping as your tightening them down from being dry. 👍👍👍

The o rings from the Toyota filter kit come pre conditioned with lube. That’s why they are in those plastic packages.

Pro tip draining the filter housing, put the end of the drain syphon plug into a plastic bottle (Gatorade bottle works) the push the canister drain plug into housing No mess it drains right into bottle

When I change my oil I don't take off the middle part of the oil filter. Even in the dealership they don't take that middle part out. It's the same amount of mess. More work. And you said 5.8 quarts, yes that is without changing the filter. Changing the filter is closer to 6.5 quarts.

6.5q? you are so wrong. its 5.8q. show me a video of someone putting 6.5 quarts in a highlander oil change.

@@mrkdavek no problem! i get confused too! i have a 4runner and its 6.6 and my wifes highlander is 5.8....i wish the quarts can be rounded to .5 or 0 lol. be easier to divide.
