An old friend of mine somehow never made it out of 3 stars… But I had another one that was 3 star for a year and became mich better after switching SBMM off. Maybe that helps you as well?

@@Lothrean Nah man, i was always bad at shooter games even when i was younger, i can't aim like a normal human being. Hunt is my only fps game just because my friend forced me to buy it. And now i myself forced 4 other people to buy it. It's just such a brilliant game design i can't quit even if i'm super shit at it. That's about it.

Honestly when i get to 5 stars i just start fucking around with bad guns and stuff to get back to 4, the sweatyness of high mmr is just not fun for me, although some of them dudes in 4 do the same shit, just not nearly as much.

We all started at the bottom in this game. Hell the first few times I was more afraid of the hellhounds than hunters… but I must say, the way low MMR players play is painful to watch. SBMM keeps these guys safe from the sweaty 5-6 star lobbies and that’s a good thing for the game’s health 👍🏻

Seeing how difficult it is for you to reach two stars alone, let alone 1, makes me so surprised that my friend somehow hit 2 stars. We played a lot and he would die quite a few times each game, and eventually he hit 2, which is the first time I saw anyone get that low. Also, I think the best way to drop your MMR if you have a friend, is to let yourself get downed a ton. Its really hard to drop fast as a solo since you can only die once, but I had a friend go from 5 to 3 stars in one match cus he died 7 times to lower MMR.

I've been as high as 5 star, pretty frequently, and when I inevitably dip down to 3 again there is a noticeable difference to the players there. Some are still good and pull shit off but some are obviously either new or bad. Not saying I'm a golden god or anything but I've been playing long enough to be able to tell the difference generally I think lol

I saw 1 star players only 2 times per 1,8k hours. And they both were new to the game with absolute zero stats (KDA 0/0/0). I don't even think it's possible to fall to 1 star once you killed someone

It's funny, because my experience fighting 3-stars is I still get randomly headshot all the time. When I don't, I can have some good fights, but I still usually lose. One time I was in a trio in a 2.5-star lobby (we had a new player with us), we lost to a team that we had a combined 7 knocks against. 4 of them were mine. They just rezzed over and over and over and no matter how many times we put one down there'd be one still up. In the end we all died and they all lived. It sucked because I felt like I played pretty well and I still lost. So it's weird hearing people say that 2.5 or 3 star players "are not human." Like, I'm trying hard and getting headshotted through walls, you know?

I'm in 2-3 star. Lastnight a guy killed my teammate I shot him and heard his death and watched him fall. I hoped out the window and ran to his body and to burn it cause he was solo he somehow was already up that fast. There's a count before you can revive yourself and and it takes time for teammates to rez you. He was 100% cheating. Dude got back up As soon as he hit the ground. Full of sweats who force their rating down to play new players and cheaters.

@@eviljoe9548I believe the new solo revive mechanic just made the game as a whole worse because it is now SO easy to derank yourself and I don't think 3 and 4 star lobbies are not what they used to be. Back then people said 3 stars is for new players and 4 stars is where people "begin to play good" yeah things have changed in that regards because I very often nowadays meet people even in 3 star lobbies that are prestige 50-100 and they are absolutely demolishing the entire lobby.

Great vid! fun! haha It's surprising you ever thought the rank/SBMM did not matter. I am high MMR like you, but I do play with some of my coworkers who are very casual/low rank (3*/4*) and it's like I am playing a different game. Seriously. But this is a good thing - shows that the game's got a high skill ceiling and worth investing hours in.

Sometimes in QP as wellspring I tell the first person to push what weapons I have and that he can just kill me now or he/she can team up and just finish me at the end. It's about 40/60 team up or just die with my meds out.

You are answering a question I always asked myself. How bad is 1 star MMR really? And honestly even this is quite interesting and I don't mean this in a mean way. It's just always so easy to think of yourself and your friends as the average. Sure there are way better players and those usually can be seen streaming or doing KZfaq. And sure there might be worse players, but this is just about hitting certain shots, right? But you never think about the people who might literally be playing their first FPS game or even their first game in general. To me it's nearly impossible to imagine playing with such a lack of understanding of basic game mechanics in general since I have been playing games for two decades. This is truly educational (and besides that also quite funny). I hope that noone who finds themselves in these videos feels bad. You should never feel bad for trying to get better. Love the video man!

I've been a 3* most of the time since playing this game. I bounce from 3* - 4*...but I've no idea where you found you're 3*'s. Unless your big time cherry picking videos...even at 3*'s, the players I encounter still OSHS (One Shot/Head Shot) me 80% of the time. Like, it's not even a fight...it's 3 seconds from the time I notice them, to the time I try to take a shot, to the time I'm ded from a 40m shot from a pistol. The most amazing aspect of this video is that you constantly turn your back to the other players and live!!

Was playing with a real 2 star and a 3 star this weekend. Really nice guys and we had fun but oh boy was it rough. The guys had close to zero awareness of what was happening, they died to AI all the time and did some of the most dangerous and stupid stuff you can imagine. Both reviving me at the same time in the open with enemies close happened 2 times within 10 minutes, crouching in the open all the time and just having no clue what was going on. It was pretty funny for couple of matches but then got old really fast and I had to leave them.

This is a good indicator of how broken the MMR system is, I kill two people and I go up to 5 and six star, I die 100 times and don't lose a rank, theres people running around in 4 star who are better than most 6 stars, the whole system is a disaster. I'm still waiting for a game where SBMM is a good idea, because I don't know of one.

The decoy kill had me ROLLLLIIINNNGGG. I feel this. Quick tip, if you do this in quickplay, it is way faster and it doesn't count toward your actual K/D. Just have to get luckier and get killed by lower stars

I am always swinging 3-5 stars, not by choice but by concentration i put in and loadouts i chose. Sometimes it really feels like that - fun and stuff - but other times oh boy do 3 stars players can surprise!

You should use two starshell romeros, flares, alert trip mines,a flashlight and flare pistols. with either flash bombs or fire bombs as your consumables and also don’t bring health kits. That will get the job done.

As a gamedesigner it is no surprise to me that 1-2 star players are basically unable to play the basic game. I dropped to 4 star once while i tried to melee kill trios as a solo. In 4 star elo i got accused of cheating every game. MMR is a good tool for games, the downsides are not what people think they are. The biggest downside of SBMM is that players do not get better at the game, because mistakes they make are not punished by the opponents. However: I would try to lose the stars in QP. It does not take as long and you dont lose valuable hunters. Great video btw

Next time you try this, do teams of 3. I've seen tons of teams with 1 and 2 stars in them. Also next time you get to 1 star, just bring a spyglass and go on safari

a friend and I tried to get below 2 stars last spring. Always played with teams of three on. we eventually had to take turns dying and rezing each other multiple times not killing anyone for over a dozen games just to get to 2 stars. once we got there we got to play one game in that low of a lobby. Went in with nothing, not even a med kit, and some how came out with a bomb lance, a avto, 2 uppercuts and both bounties in a full lobby. We felt really bad afterwards..

Based 2 stars! We are deaf, we are blind, we can't aim, hardest fights are with grunts, one-shot kills are non existent. The game is just more fun on lower levels (I know, because once I accidentaly got 3 stars and everything just went hardcore). It is like playing with armor or triple HP.

I played a solo game a couple days ago as a 3 star, got matched vs a bunch of 1 and 2 stars... (I learned afterwards) and I killed a solo with my fists, post game I saw he was a 1 star with 1 kill and 6 deaths I felt so bad that hes playing a new game completely solo and just dying I sent him fr, never accepted though :/

Tried that myself one time. Here is the ultimate derank guide: - Choose a hunter with only small chunks - get a partner with Necro - let him stay behind so you take all the bullets - once you ded, he necro - bonus points: try to find the boss fast and kill it but don't banish yet. Let your necro partner stay inside while you welcome the opponents with open arms. Before your partner necros you the 5th time (last bar) he starts banishing and you can die up to 9 times in one single game - sometimes I managed to make friends with enemy so my partner could revive me with bounty even more and they kill me again Easy 2 stars

In seriousness though, I appreciate that you put all the work in for this series. I've watched all three parts and you've saved me the trouble of trying to tank my MMR to a reasonable rating, i.e.- my 2 star actual skill level showing me that it's not worth putting in the work to try to play on my actual level and to just continue to get bodied at 3*. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

When I started playing this game, I would struggle a lot to find full games in East after 10-11pm. The game started getting popular and at some point I would have fast queues even at 3-6am. Well, they added the match making system and it got as or worse than how it was at the beginning. I wonder if many of these players you showed would be better at the game if there was not match making like before. lol

I started the game revently, playing solo, but playing that way ruins your mmr and k/d, eventually I got to play trios and got to 5 stars and a 1,10 k/d but I get the most fun playing solo, teammates often stress me out and I don't have friends that play hunt, so I hope that they do something to make solo mmr and k/d more accurate

3star is the lowest I remember being (I started playing before stars were introduced) and I still drop there sometimes when I play solo or when I'm tilted and can't turn the game off during a losing streak, I wish I could get over my pride and not feel ashamed when dying to new players. The problem is, SBMM works, it's just so lazily done it's embarrassing - the one single metric used to judge skill level is whether you get a kill or die and in a game like this where loadouts, circumstances or wheter you're just having a bad day matter a lot, it's fucking stupid. And it takes so fucking long to drop MMR too - I often spend hours dying (usually 0 kills) only to get it all back in one-two good matches. I legit can't believe this was Crytek's best idea.

I spent about 24 hours getting myself to the lowest match mmr possible, and when i was recording a vid of me climbing back up all it takes is 1/2 good games to climb up a star so i feel ya. Thats why i play SBMM off, match quality is much better
