It’s a very cool looking watch, and I owned an orange dial DD for a while. But the non-hacking movement just triggered my OCD. The struggle is real!

Case reminds me of the Doxa 300 - beautiful watch though! Pricey for a watch with bad bracelet!

Yeah definitely has that cushion case. Price is good through jomashop. Seems the bracelet is were so many watch brands skimp on the build.

I love my Bulova green 'Devil Diver', I just love the case shape, dial and that late '60's/early 70's' vibe, that just sits so nicely on the wrist, like a lot of 'dive' watches from that era. Also the use of a Miyota movement is fine/great with me, love the internal date 'cyclopse/magnifier' is a great application for that function? Please keep up the good work, following!

I found your review very helpful. I ordered from Jomashop as they had the best price. The dial color is fantastic and actually much nicer in person. I find the magnifying layer for the date to be fine as it highlights it just enough. You are correct on the bracelet, as it feels very light (cheap) compared to the rest of the watch. I would prefer the links and clasp to have a little more weight. Overall I think the watch is extremely nice if you can get it at a discount. Also, I noticed that some of the comments say the movement is non-hacking, but my movement hacks just fine. I will have to investigate to see if Bulova upgraded the movement or Miyota started adding the hacking function to the 821D. If anyone knows please let me know.

Thank you for the kind words. Mine is also hacking so there is a good chance the movement was upgraded on the reissue. Congratulations on the watch it is in my top 5 favorite watches and gets a lot of wear.

I have not seen the high bear variant of the devil Diver. I think the movement for the price on this one is right on. I do have the jet pilot for a quartz has crazy beat per second, 16 beats. So smooth it’s hypnotic 😂.

I just came over from your Jet Star review because I wanted to see what else you reviewed and like and indeed, here is another of my favourite watches! Mine is black with red accents and I love the looks. I have never seen indices of that intersting style, that is one of the highlights for me. I paid a bit too much for it in a shop considering I got it on a rubber strap, but now that I see the clasp I think I maybe got the better option. My only slight disappointment was that the movement is a non-hacking Miyota 8215, I just don't like how that movement feels when setting date or time.

I really like the Bulova Jet Star with red dial even though that watch only has 50 meters water resistance. This Devil Diver is really nice as well but that bracelet looks really cheap. I have Seiko Alpinist and the watch has a real nice milled clasp that doesn't feel so cheap. Of course with many mid priced Seiko Divers they use the 6R35 movement which performs about the same as this Citizen Miyota 8 series movement. They can run a bit slow.

Yeah the jet star is a great watch. 50 m is still 150 feet in the water, but with the leather strap I wouldn’t take it in the water. The bracelet on the devil diver is not great. Not bad, but not great. The band seems to always be the area they cut cost on.

Good review. Nice watch love the look of the dial case colour. Movement disappointing and bracelet bad. Would have been great if you could have shown it on some different straps as I suspect most of us would ditch the one it comes with. 🙏

Just a thought... best put this on a nice sailcloth/rubber strap; that is what I do with all my real Divers. Desk Divers can go on a decent leather strap or a quality stainless steel bracelet for going out to restaurants etc. First time viewer now subscriber, great review.

Is the case actually made of stainless steel? Or is it nickel plated brass like most of their new watches?

It’s stainless steel with a gold color plating on it.

Im sorry, but the bracelet isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I find it to be pretty nice. But then again, im used to vintage watches.

For the quality of the watch and price it should not have a pressed clasp. It should have been milled. Less expensive micro brands are doing milled clasps. Since this is a modern recreation milled would have been better. To each his own. And like most watch’s they seem to always scrimp on the bracelet. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Yeah I dive into my pool from the diving board.my pool is salt water pool. Believe it lol. Chlorine pools won’t hurt a watch lol.

These watches look amazing and I know it’s a great diver watch but honestly I could never buy a watch with the mark of the beast stamped on the dial.
