Thanks again Lance for that refresher .Excellent attention to detail , as always . I’ve finally got my TEF 20 up and running , but because the engine has not been running for about 40 to 50 years , I have drained off the oil , which I put in new , and will fill up again with fresh oil . I have this part off at present and will clean it up . Oil pressure is reading low , but hopefully the fresh oil should help . Thanks again , your help is amazing . Ted

Bloody good video mate, it’s pointed me in the right direction to check what’s going on in my Fergies oil pressure state. I like your videos because they are very informative and straight to the point with no bullshitting waste of time. Thanks matey, good on ya👍👍

Hi There, I just want to say thank you for all the time and effort you put in your movies. I learned a lot from them. I just bought me a Ferguson TEF 20 which needs a little bit of work. Your movies make it a lot easiers. Greetings from a Dutch antipode in Germany.

It's amazing how much neglect and beating these little Fergies take and they still run. My TO20 had bent push rods on the front cylinder so it was not working, the 2 center cylinders the intake ports were almost blocked with carbon , only a hole the size of a pencil was letting the mixture in, and the back cylinder was the only one working properly and yet the tractor ran good enough to dig itself in the ground if it couldn't pull something. Now with all new stuff I better hang on so she don't dump me!

Yeah it is a credit to the older designs for sure but they had to be simple as these were often the first piece of machinery on a farm after the draft horses.

Not hard to find the numbers in the old books but finding someone to stock it is often the problem. They are just not interested in stocking the parts for the old tractors any more and Vanguard dealers are long gone. Ill check the numbers out though and see if I can find a cross over.

Great stuff keep it up!! Has helped me out on my rebuild of a old grey. Are you going to make a video on how to wire up all the electric stuff? I have bought a sparex wire set, and i cant quite figure out how some of it are wired together versus how the wires were hooked up with the old wires :P :D

I'm going to be changing the oil on our '54 TEF-20 that we got last year so this video is perfect for giving it a bit of attention while it's off. It's diesel but, externally, the filter looks much the same. When you put it back on do you need to worry about it having no oil in at first? Is there a trick to getting some oil in so you're not running dry or shouldn't I worry about that first few seconds? Thanks Lance, all your videos help out those of us that are only young(ish) and don't have this sort of knowledge.

You can fill the canister a little but if the tractor has been run in recent times it usually isnt a worry.

Would it be possible for you to remove and go through the three point hydraulic control on top of the hydraulic cover Lantz? I’m wondering if there is a way to set up a port from there to run an auxiliary power point to run for eg., a hydraulic ram for a wood splitter or remote snowblower chute control.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 жыл бұрын
Use the plug from the corner of the hydraulic pump. That will give a hydraulic supply.
@angusgillingham2323
@angusgillingham2323 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, I’ll take a look at that, thanks. I wondered about that top plug there but wouldn’t attempt anything until at least asking someone like yourself who have seen quite a few more of these I figure.

Hey Lance. The original oil filter element you showed at the beginning, were they made to be reusable / washable or were they a throwaway item like the new paper filter?

Great vid lance. Do u know what the standard number of turns or standard setting is for the relief valve/spring? Mines been fiddled with, and already experiencing the normal oil pressure when cold, and very low when warm symptoms. Adjusting the spring does nothing 😕
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 2 жыл бұрын
The manual says to start and run the tractor and turn the screw in so it has around 60psi cold and leave it be from there. It will loose pressure as it warms up but the relief is only the max the pump will put out after setting it. It doesnt do anything under that really.

Thanks lance. What do I do if I have an oil pump which has no numbers? It's just a red and green indicator. Any ideas on where to start with number of turns?

Well that was very informative, I like the explanation on how it all works. I learned something new. How many hours will you run that engine before you change oil?
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 4 жыл бұрын
Probably only a few 10 at max, Ill try and find some hard work to help run it in then change it to get all of the running in junk out if there is any.
