GR8 video chum. Excellent camera work. And yes, I much appreciate showing all bolts removed. It's more details, really thorough instructions for me to use on my 1970 MF 40 backhoe. I bought it seized. Got it unseized and rebuilt starter installed. Need to do compression test next. Thanks very much lad.

G'day Lance good vid mate, it was interesting listening to you diagnose the problems with the head. I really enjoyed the two videos mate well done and good explanations as to what was done and how it should have been done if that makes sense. One more thing my shed is insulated in the roof and walls and you know why it's those brass monkeys down here! John

If your shed was insulated it wouldn't be hotter than blazes in there in the summertime. :-)

Ahh that takes me back! On the more modern iron, it’s pretty common to have oily buildups as a result of “emission controls” and crankcase ventilation (connecting the vapours in the crankcase up to the intake - resulting in that oily mess) I’m guessing this is not so much the case with this era?

Had it for years, Noah may have used it I think. It came with tools I bought from an old mechanic one time.

HI Lance, I am enthusiastically watching to all your MF135 restoration video and got one question on this PERKINS AD3 152 head. As I posted in you other video I liked, my AD3 152 engin does breath a lot (you can see oil stem like smoke form the breather hose when running and oil on the floor in the shed) despite it starts just fine both cold and hot and after swarming up no blue /white exhausts are noticeable. Therefore my question is: can a worn head /rocket cause this breathing? What I did also notice is the fact the head cover leaks a little bit form one of the two cover studs with washer, hence I Suspect a lot of oil is in there; inside the cover itself. I do really thank you for suggestion and help. Ciao from Italy

No the only cause will be worn rings or bore or both combined.

Thanks Lance, I also thought so but the fact it does neither have blue exhaust nor difficult to start when cold made me wondering… I also get some "smoke" from oil fil plug and oil level rod gauge if I undo then when hot.In your opinion when oil breathe can be considered “huge” and worth to overhaul the engine ? 1lt/oil every 100hours perhaps?
