DIY PCV valve & location Toyota with a 1.8L engine. Not hard at all to change the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve. You will need a 10mm socket and wrench and a 19mm opened ended wrench.
Typically these get stick and you will burn oil or see smoke come out.

Matrix and Vibe PCV (Positive Crankcase Valve) Replacement on a 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine. Their are slightly different PCV valve part numbers depending on the make and model of vehicle. Commonly overlooked part that has a big impact in overall engine and emissions sustainability. Service manual suggest inspecting the PCV valve on this series engine every 30k miles Link to additional details on Pontiac Vibe PCV replacement: forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/view...
If the hose is cracked or loose fitting, on the 2003-2008 Vibe/Matrix the replacement hose part number is W0133-1746428, this appears to be universal between the FWD and AWD models.

Why use the large profile adjustable wrench if you have the correct 19mm open end wrench? You wouldn’t need to remove that plastic rail to make room if you used the correct tool

Novice question: The coil pack wiring has a plastic hose-like case around it. I managed to crack the hose slightly. Am I OK to just cover it with some electrical tape? Should I test the coil packs to make sure the wires are OK? My engine is idling a little rough. I doubt this is the culprit (think it's the PCV hose) but should I eliminate the possibility with a check?
