My theory- The Drifter is training us for what is coming to Destiny 3. In Destiny 3, the enemies will have a power of darkness which will be more powerful than the light. As we fight the bad guys, we fight the boss but our light does nothing so then we need to find a new power which we will stumble across the darkness which we consume it. We then get a new subclass of darkness that will kill the enemies and the boss.

Personally I haven't really been enjoying SOTD. I guess Gambit being a required part of it just isn't my thing, but the lore and quality is top notch.

Drifter is probably the best character right now. I'm pretty sure a lot of people will agree with me.

By far drifter is my number favourite character with lore. I also love the new gambit prime and I decided to buy a gambit T shirt. Best thing this happened on my birthday! Bungie thanks for making my dreams happen!

I have this feeling we will have a final fight between the vanguard and the nine vs drifter and his taken and normal Winnie’s at his command, I feel like if you chose to go to the dark side you would be with drifter but for the greater good. Idk

Drifter has to be one of my all-time fictional characters, ever.

I think it's awesome that destiny is going more living world, and the story is constantly progressing. I just wish that it wasn't through grinding the same activity a million times. I used to be invested in destiny's world and story, but since I just don't have the time to keep up, I have to get the new story through lore KZfaqrs and people that post the cutscenes. I think unlocking new lore through the endgame is a great idea, but now the main storyline and narrative are locked behind hours of grinding. But it seems to be working for them and the fanbase is happy, so I guess I'm just an outlier. Maybe destiny just isn't for me anymore. I'll keep up to date with the story, but I probably won't start playing again until the next expansion drops...

I think the drifter is building a taken army to take down the darkness or defend himself and us. Him teaching us dark power is him preping us to be able to take on the dark.

@Bungie please don't hold back with the story and lore when leading into Destiny 3. Please go crazy, go dark, and go deep with the story telling. You've got alot of us hyped just by the potential Destiny 3 has right now. We all love a compelling story with loss and dark vs light and the fine line between the two. Let us dabble in both sides in Destiny 3. Let rise and fall as we achieve victory and fail grandly. Don't hold back oh developers mine.

Just realized that in the cover behing all the characters in the seasons. There's a bunch of guardians doing something. In Black Armory it seems it's only 3 guardians as in a pve environment. In Jokers wild there 6 fighting each other, gambit prime. And in Oppulence it seems 3 guardians fighting the environment, such as in a PoE environment

I think we deserve a less cryptic story after what we've gotten in the past. Cryptic elements are fine but waiting week after week with little information added each week has got me feeling less interested each week. Started off really strong.

Can we get actual new content besides one activity for a whole season? A lot of people miss actual new story missions, strikes, a raid, and leave what we have now for end game for those. It's just been very empty and the lore is unappealing as it reveals nearly nothing everyweek

Can we please replace Zavala and Ikora please? If Uldren is going to be the new hunter vanguard (who has an amazing story and character development) Why are we just sitting on two dull characters that add nothing to the story? Even Cayde was a better character than Zavala and Ikora. I'm thinking maybe bring Saint 14 in as Titan Vanguard and Toland as the Warlock Vanguard. I hope this is the case for D3, i also hope they shaft all the planet vendors and also replace them with worthwhile characters that are integral to the plot of every planet. If you're going to add characters in to the Destiny universe make sure they add something to the story or have their fair share of character development, otherwise don't even bother. D2 had a bunch of useless characters just for the sake of being vendors when all you could have done was mix 5 vendors into 1 huge vendor.

I miss the darkness, the way humanity is on the edge of destruction, they threw all that away in D2..... Baking cakes? Flowery towers and festivals? Bungie is Destinys wort enemy with this game.... I miss the darkness of destiny 1... Much better story in the first game

I was hoping Jokers Wild would be Shin and Drifter facing off. I mean Drifters holding a coin that’s ok fire! The coin represents who we’re supposed to be fighting! Shin is the Man with the Golden Gun! It just makes sense!.

We may not be able to trust him but after what we've learned trust isn't necessary for the war to come it is the knowledge we gain that will save us. No one trusted Osiris or Toland or Eris and yet all three have become valuable assets in our battles. Drifter is one of those a necessary darkness a balancing point between light and dark
