Each character is named after a writer. I recommend to also go and check their biographies. The anime makes a lot of sense after you check that.

I like Dazai as a character but I started watching it because one of my fans told to me to see it.

I’ll explain it, because I got confused 0-0 but I watched it, now am on season 3 -w- Atushi, he was kicked out of his orphanage so they can have 1 less mouth to feed ( which make no sense) and then he’s forced to live on the streets. Then one day he finds a man drowning in the river, he helps him and brings him to shore. The man woke up and he explained he was trying to commit suicide. The mans name was Dazai. Another man shouting from the distance named Kunikida, was looking for Dazai. They offer to take Atushi for a meal. After that they explained how they are part of a group, a group called the Arm Detective Agency. They also explain that they are looking for a tiger, a tiger that is white. Atushi tells them how the tiger seems to be after him for some odd reason. So Dazai offers to use Atushi as bait for the tiger. Atushi will win 30 grand if he participates. He agreed and did it in a place at night. When Atushi saw the moon he transformed into the tiger, it turns out the Agency all have supernatural abilities, just like Atushi did. He couldn’t control his power so he went attacking Dazai. Dazai has the ability “no longer human” that means he can cancel anyone’s abilities. He did that with Atushi. Then the rest of the Agency came. Kenji,Aikio,Ranbo. They explain that Atushi has the ability. When he woke up the Agency explained if he liked him to join. He agreed. The next day he gets a call from Dazai, “a very important call” he goes out and sees he tried to commit suicide by getting stuck in a oil drum. He helps him out and Atushi explains how he doesn’t want to be apart of the group. Dazai offers him a job, so they go on ahead. A boy kidnapped a girl and he put a bomb in the building. Atushi covers the bomb so he dies and doesn’t get anyone hurt. That was a test to see if the agency could take him, he past. The boy and the girl who was kidnapped were also part of the Agency, they just acted by being bad. Their names were Naomi and Junichiro. That’s where the story begins!

Let's just say some best VAs are in it. Eg: Miyano Mamoru, Taniyama Kishou, Hosoya Yoshimasa, Sakurai Takahiro, Hiroshi Kamiya, Ono Daisuke (in 3rd season though), Fukuyama Jun (2nd season), Ono Kensho, Toyonaga Toshiyuki, Hanazawa Kana, Murase Ayumu, Suwabe Junichi (season 2), Uemura Yuto and Ishikawa Kaito (the uprising newbies).

What I am amazed about this anime aside from its plot and animations is that the name of some characters like Dazai, Ango, Oda, Akutagawa, Chuya, Kunikida are from real person who actually exist before.

This is one - one of the greatest well thought anime! From the characters, the plot, to the settings are all POPPIN! Believe me i have completed watching this from S1 to S3, and the movie - i just couldn't get enough of BSD. I am now reading the manga and the surprises never fail to amuse me. SOOO DAMN GOOD SHOUT OUT TO MY FAVORITES: EDOGAWA RANPO, AND NAKAHARA CHUUYA ❤

@@minniehereonly oml why do you take shit to heart? anyways the trailer was pretty shit so i couldnt get much out if it and what i did get is an orphanage being taken in by a bunch of "hot detective guys" and they fight people with supernatural powers. if thats not your typical anime then bitch please calm the fuck down bc youre wrong and unlike you my taste in anime is a variety, i like a bit of everything and im not fixated on one genre. and all i wanted was a little explanation on what its about, gosh.

Yes, it seems typical to me too at first (I legit dropped it twice at first episode lol). The hero is also not the kind I prefer (at the beginning). But well, since people are really recommending it everywhere, I gave it a try again and it was really worth it 😆 You'll fall in love with the character before you know it.

And the trailer did not do it justice to be honest hmmm. Or rather, season 1 is more like an introduction for the characters, so the trailer doesn't really have any content for it. Things actually start to heat up later on. As the story goes on, you'll eventually develop a feeling towards the characters, one by one.

kekkai sensen (aka blood blockade battlefront) is so much like it to the point where i'm kind of baffled they don't have the same creator. if you start either series after seeing the other you'll know what i mean. also happens to be my #1 favorite anime so

Yes. Also, if you decide to watch more anime based on the fact that Kamiya Hiroshi's in them, I recommend Noragami and the Monogatari series where he voices the main characters. Also, he's Levi from Attack on Titan and Izaya from Durarara!!! .
