Bunka Fashion College Q&A - Interview, Portfolio, Entrance Exam??

Hey guys,
It’s Sena aka the HAZINA girl and in this video I talk about everything after the application process. I often get asked questions like: do I need to hand in a portfolio to get into Bunka? or Do I need to do an exam or an interview in Japanese to get accepted to Bunka? and in this video I answer all those questions!
Fun fact: I actually made this video two years ago when I was a first year a Bunka and I’m glad I did cause the information was fresh in my memory at that time! Now I’m a third year and looking back I realized I definitely would have loved to watch a video like this before doing my Bunka Entrance exam so I hope you guys like it!

Please make a video on what class instruction is like! Like do you understand everything they tell you in Japanese? Are the teachers accommodating? Do they speak English at all? Stuff like that!

Omg, first of all, you’re so cute!!! Secondly, THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! you have no idea how hard it is to find good and reliable info about entering Bunka. I want to enter Bunka next year if COVID is more controlled and stable, but I have absolutely no idea on how to do so, and I’m about to graduate hs, so it is a very stressful situation. I’ve read countless of times the application forms but I’m hopeless. My parents don’t really support my decision on moving to jp to study and work, so my question is, how did the whole idea of studying in Bunka came up to you, and how did your family supported that idea? Also, how was the whole moving + application process for you? Sorry for asking so many questions, I really want to get into Bunka! Have a lovely day💕

I’m sorry to hear that things have been stressful for you lately! But I hope things work out and you can eventually come to Japan to study at Bunka! 😊 Also, those are some really great questions and I would definitely love to make full videos to answer your questions so I’ll definitely keep those questions in mind 😊✨

Oh my god thank you so much for uploading! I'm hoping to apply for the intensive garment creation course in 2022 and while it's still pretty far away there just isn't enough about the application process out there for me to comfortably over plan my next year and a half haha

I don’t plan on going to Bunka specifically but I do plan to go to 専門学校 after language school! This was interesting to watch! My only question is, what’s the plan after graduation?

That's a great question! & For now I don't have a super great answer cause I'm still weighing my options but I know for sure that I want to continue living in Japan and I would love to find a job in the Fashion or Design industry! Good luck with your plans too! I know for sure you'll enjoy 専門学校 in Japan! 😁

I know this is a really late comment but, do you have to take the EJU for bunka and i am really bad at math sooo does the entrance exam not test other subjects like that too? If they dont look at the transcript of the graduation certificate

Thank you for the video, it was really helpful! I'm going to apply for the textile course in the fall this year. I was wondering, how did you prepare for your interview? Also, did you apply to any other schools apart from Bunka?

Muriel Yay! ✨I’m glad you found it helpful! 😊 To answer your questions, I didn’t apply to any other schools other than Bunka! As for preparations, I actually got a list of basic interview questions from my school and I also did some interview practice with some teachers after class! Hope that’s helpful! 😉

What happens if I don't have any emergency contacts in Japan and I plan to apply from where I live (Malaysia)? With Japanese, is it ok if I self-learn to get to N2 or must I show proof I have attended at a language center/school?

Great question! I'd love to make a video about this in the future but the short answer is ... at first YES! 😝 But now I feel way more comfortable talking to everyone because I speak Japanese everyday!

Hi!! This was a very helpful vid! I have a question tho,,, Is is possible to be able to apply for scholarships at Bunka? Also, do they have courses/any programs that are offered in English?

Yeah! It’s definitely possible to get a scholarship while studying at Bunka! Every year there are a few scholarships offered for foreign students! & yeah it’s definitely possible to take an English course at Bunka Fashion University but it’s a Masters Degree course which means that you need to have at least a bachelor’s degree to be able to study in English!

Awesome vid! I have some questions. Is it possible to work part time while studying at Bunka? I heard that is a very fast pace college so I was wondering. Bc I bet it is very expensive to stidy at Bunka and live in Tokyo hahahaha

Mari Thanks! That’s great question! & the answer is yes you can! It’s totally possible to work part time on a student visa as long as it’s less than 28 hours a week cause that’s the legal maximum! :)

Mari I think it’s totally doable as long as you find a reasonably cheap place to live and you find part time jobs that pay well!

How much does it costs to study in bunka for fashion design?

It completely depends on your major! There are tons of different Fashion Design Courses at Bunka with different course lengths so it's hard to say or sure unless you know your exact major!

That's a great question! I did the interview in November and the results came back in December so it took roughly a month!

Glad you like the video! & No don't worry they don't have an age range! My class mates were as young as 18 years old to 30 years old but people of any age can study at Bunka!

Hello, nice to meet you. I'm from Indonesia and I want to study aboard at Japan after graduate from barchelor degree of design at Indonesia. Bunka is one that I'm interested in to entrance. Is there any schollarship at Bunka for international student?

Great question! Bunka does in fact offer some scholarships for international students but you need to already be enrolled and attending to apply for them! I plan on making a more detailed video about this so thank you so much for your question!

It costs $850-1,599 a month (but it does depend on your major). In pounds that’d be £650.02-£1,203.99. Which is cheaper than Central St Martin’s, which costs £9,000 right? The future is uncertain....

Yeah the future is definitely uncertain! Right now because of corona they’ve given the students a 50,000¥ reduction on tuition ... but generally speaking I think the numbers you brought up are accurate on average 😊
