Bunkai: Pinan Nidan, Count 2 to 3
This interpretation shows the use of the 180° turn as a throw, (not defending against a new opponent, approaching from behind you.)
In this interpretation:
Your opponent attempts a trap and grab of your punch,
you drop and pull your arms to the center line of your body, trapping the opponent’s arm
and pulling the opponent over your hip.
If they are still locked onto your wrist, you release by striking their thumb tendons with your ulnar head, the prominent bone at the outside of your wrist.
You immediately do a hammer fist to their available target.
The next move in the kata is step in and punch, to finish the direction.
