@@bennygohome4576 7000 hours But I've never played Burgundy so that might explain. I'm always deciding on another in the end whenever I think I wanted to make Lotharingia and in the end have never done that. Really need to do that at some point.

Tbh, having to deal with that many vassals and diplo relations is a bit tedious. And remember that you ll get -30 relations with your vassals when you annex one, which can spiral out of controll with this amount. Also having to improve all the time with them while also annexing and doing other diplo stuff can overload your diplomats. Although the new gov type for Burgundy at least helps with the diplo relation cap.

@@gothia1715 yeah lots of diplomat micro as burgundy so definitely go diplomatic ideas but I went influence and admin also since that’s probably the best ideas if you stick with Mary for the diplo annexation cost, and with great privilege it’s manageable to keep vassals in check.

@@TripleZHacker True, Diplo ideas help alot with this. But Influence + Admin is a nobrainer for every subject focused campaign. Also took them as my first ideas in my current Provence playthrough. One of the best idea combinations in the game imo.

@@TripleZHacker You re wellcome :) I think its because returning cores also removes the core of your enemie (if its not the main culture), which should be the reason for more AE. You can always try it out by comparing a provinces AE cost in the peace deal.

Just didn't consider it, also Bordeaux was occupied by the French in the hundred years war, so I got control of it only during the war hence I didn't expect to get it at the start of that war.

It’s up to you what you wish to focus on and yeah that’s a fair point but the military tech helped win the next few wars and got a stack wipe or two/plus if you don’t get the same rng with allies and such it’s nice. Also switching to tech 4 means the AI will try to avoid fighting you often too, diplo points are great though so it’s a valid point for sure

So the feast was in 1454 Phillip the Good was still the Duke at that point but Charles was born in 1433 so maybe he would’ve been on the Crusade. The crusade to Nicopolis John the Fearless was actually not the Duke during the battle 1396, but he would become Duke (1404), he was the Count of Nevers and got captured by the Ottomans and sold back to Burgundy for ransom as lots of the French and Burgundian knights let their pride get the better of them so they got encircled during the battle since they over stretched themselves from the other Crusader forces. Anyways yeah Charles may have gone on that Crusade if it happened in 1454, but even when he was Duke the Pope wanted Charles the Bold to attack the Ottomans. The Pope actually tried to get the Swiss and Burgundians to make peace during the Burgundian Wars for such a purpose but Charles died at Nancy :/

Yeah I’m honestly unsure they had 98 warscore must’ve been because of Castile, Austria, and the others wanting things really confused about it still lol and yeah I love Burgundy I’ve had some great runs got the two achievements for them a bit ago~

1 thing tho. For the ultimate blessed burg run you have to try to get that curia controller (ofc its pure luck but its so insane if you get it) and get the minus 10% percent ae from age ability earlier through developing your cap. If you stack that with esp -20% ae you can get -50% ae. And then if you are curia controller you exc savoy attack them and you can get -75% ae (i once had 80% with careful ruler trait fully and then fully annexed savoy for like 15 ae LOL)

Yeah was insane because they had 98% warscore against France and just took a bunch of territory instead of gaining independence for some reason, I think it had to do with appeasing allies like giving Castile territory and since both Foix and Orelans were in the war I don’t think they had the warscore to each get their independence from France

Yeah Burgundian Ideas are nice and once you form Lotharingia they’re great too you can always keep Burgundian Ideas for that 15% you set yourself up in the best trade node and can easily be swimming in ducats!

Typically in my runs during this patch I would declare war on France with the mission League of the public weal active. After defeating one of France’s armies Orelans, Foix, and Amagnac would get 100% liberty desire. That’s because the vassals won’t participate in the battles so France’s force limit/troop total wouldn’t be high enough compared to the combined strength of its subjects. Orelans would immediately get its independence supported by Castile at 100% liberty desire, then they declared war on France in the middle of my war with them. So no Orelans gets an immediate truce with me and I can’t return its core to Champagne. This happened multiple times in my test runs for this guide. It’s very rng if you’re able to kill the French vassal troops in time and even then it’s likely France won’t be strong enough after the war to stop them from getting independence. Perhaps if France wins the Hundred Years’ War and I waited to declare, but even then it’s not guaranteed. You’d have to either fight Provence first and not get them as a vassal and just take 2 provinces quickly without the excommunication cp and then declare on France and complete king of the franks quickly, but that’s not as strong since without the Provence vassal you don’t get Naples for 15AE. Perhaps in a future run I’ll try waiting to declare on either France or Provence but you can’t wait too long otherwise France annexes vassals.

Since I did the French PU option I don’t get the CBS to do that but I could just vassalize a few of them, like the bishoprics

I couldn’t see them and I was tempted should’ve tried to get maps from others! Probably will fight them when I fight the English again though anyways but ya definitely something I forgot to consider!

@@TripleZHacker Taking just Ceuta will at at least allow you to make claims on Portugal and Southern Castile (to get the grenada momumemt early to eventually get its 5% admin efficiency bonus.) , as well as the extra slender bonus point of being on two continent’s.

Yep I mentioned that in the video, you can get Lorraine later if you give Provence some provinces to get their development over 100 you get all of the kingdom of Naples for like 15 AE so you just take Lorraine’s provinces later, or don’t make province a vassal and take the 4 provinces near there and any others if you can.

I guess I could have done that but the aggressive expansion to vassalize France probably would’ve been to much unless I become the papal controller and could excommunicate them, but you want to fall under a PU with the French to inherit all vassals easily, if you fall under a PU with the emperor or your strongest ally you can do it too, but you probably have a tougher independence war and you also have a 5 year truce time with them so you’d have to wait to declare independence.

Ah okay so you’re out of coring range, I was able to core their areas because of taking provinces from Naples with the province vassal, if not you can try to take provinces near ottoman territory to make them cores in your playthrough

Dang unlucky if you have good relations with the pope you can get the core returned to Provence also you could call the pope into the war but just make sure you take Provence’s Capital

@@TripleZHacker at the time I was allied but chose not to call him in to my initial war with Provence because of that concern. Found out the hard way I should have just called him. Funny anecdote about another run I had, Charles got the event for pray for his life or send for a train medicus, he died and I had to restart

@@TripleZHacker oh also the main reason I chose to abandon the run was because I couldn't get the French vassals opinions high enough with me due to the double combo of AE and excommunication, the war with France I declared ended up mostly stalemated on my side, 0 manpower and lots of loans

@@killerofgems5923 Good god that is some rough rng I had that happen in a run once, standard burgundy experience. I recently did a Muscovy-Russia game and had to alt-f4 when Peter the Great died in a hunting accident as my heir.

I didn’t use the house of burgundy so neither of those heirs were used! I integrated with the French. I only Alt F4 since I selected an option by mistake before finishing what I wanted to say so I had to re-record a take but nice try lol

@@NezerCz I know if you take the Balearic Islands right before Spain forms then once Spain forms you can release Aragon and I thought about doing that but decided it was better to take the territory earlier, but yeah was hoping that age ability would do the trick too

Great question, I should’ve addressed that in the video but forgot to. So obviously with burgundy you get all of the French appanage as vassals you don’t want to take their core territory if you can avoid it (I did take La Marche so Armagnac did hate me for that) since it hurts your relations with them, with Gascogne you just want to take their cores on France’s provinces not the vassals!

In every run I play I see wars fought and won by the AI nations but they take useless peacedeals. The average player is always smarter than AI in these things.

Actually that’s incorrect: common usage is cardinal numbers unless it’s the first then you use the Ordinal numbers for the first: François Ier (premier, ordinal) and then afterwards you would use cardinal for the rest: Henri IV (quatre, cardinal) So when I say “le trois” that’s following how French is commonly used. It’s a common mistake to assume that it’s a direct/literal translation from English as the names of kings and queens differs.
