In Yoruba - Abobaku is the term used to describe "The one who dies with the King."
So when the Ooni of Ife - or the king of the Yoruba people - dies, the Abobaku must be buried with him. The Abobaku is appointed at the king's coronation and takes care of him while he's alive. But, once he dies, must serve and attend him in the afterlife.
"They would have to drag me back by force!" says one man.
"He is greedy for accepting that position - so he should follow Oba!" says another guy.
Nigeria's Nobel Prize Laureate - Wole Soyinka - wrote his play: "Death and the King's Horsemen" about the act.
Ife is known as "the Source" in Yorubaland and the Ooni is not only the king but spiritual leader of the Yoruba people.
However, with the recent death of the late Ooni of Ife - there are reports that the burial ceremony had to be postponed after the Abobaku fled.
"You cannot see your death and stand there!" says one guy.
Would you run?
