Burkina Faso’s army has announced it has deposed President Roch Kabore, dissolved the government and the national assembly, and suspended the constitution, seizing control of the country after two days of unrest at army camps in the capital.
The announcement, signed on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba and read by another officer on state television, said the takeover had been carried out without violence and those detained were in a secure location. The country’s borders have also been closed, it added.
Before the army statement, the African Union and the West African bloc ECOWAS both condemned what they called an attempted coup, saying they held the military responsible for Kabore’s safety.
United Nations chief Antonio Guterres said in a statement that he “strongly condemns any attempted takeover of government by the force of arms”, calling the events a “coup”.
Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports.

@@splurgeverse521 I am an American, and I couldn't agree more. My family are all soldiers. they are treated like slaves by the United States Government. The US has never won a war since 1945. And it likely never will. The military is powerless to save the Ukraine from invasion, because the soldiers don't want to fight. They don't trust the government not to abandon them like they did in Afghanistan, and Iraq, and Syria, and Somalia, and Vietnam, and Cambodia, and Korea, and everywhere else they've sent Americans to die, without a second thought about how they were going to bring them home alive. They fight, but the government doesn't actually care if they win or not. To them it's just politics. The soldiers are not greedy politicians. They are not fighting for themselves, they fight for their country. I don't know who the commander of the Burkina is, I don't know if he can be trusted. Generals and politicians are the same thing in America. But I know the soldiers who fight under him are genuinely interested only in the safety and prosperity of their homeland. Soldiers don't exist for any other purpose. Soldiers don't fight for money. They hardly get paid anything. They don't fight for fame or power, most of them are forgotten, and they are totally powerless compared to their leaders. They joined to support their nation. No matter who is in charge, that is what they will do.

U are not smart if u immediately blame the former government and even throwing blind accusation whenever a coup happen. The people who's attempting a coup is very likely to be more corrupt than the previous one and is also likely to enslave their own country for a foreign nation/entity who supported their coup. In case u r still wondering we're already entering cold war period, so stop being hotheaded and gullible at the same time so that u dont be those person who celebrate their own downfall and enslavement

A coup will always be a disaster no matter what. The chaos it follow will definitely give economic and social instability. The person doing the coup is more likely to be more corrupt and ruthless than the previous government (especially if it comes from military or anyone attempting to become a dictator) proven by their willingness to sacrifices a lot of people lives and they dont hesitate to excarcebate whatever problem their country may have before for their coup attempt. Lastly it is very likely that the coup is planned or supported by an influental foreign entity which will make your country become subservient to those foreign entity (ahem murica) in the future. The secured support from those powerful outsider would clearly made any greedy and evil person be more confident and willing to launch their coup.

We should be clear. The current coups in Mali and Burkina are NOT supported by France! France currently heads EU and would not choose to sanction a group they support. Defies logic or sense. The coups are attempts by Afrikans to remove themselves from the stranglehold that France has had over them for 6 decades. When Afrikans are attacking those who have led the current coups the message they are actually sending is that they support the same status quo of French subjugation as opposed to any move by Afrikans to release themselves from that subjugation. It is a binary/either or circumstance. Either French leave or French stay. Those condemning the current coups are calling for the French to stay.

There is something we are not noticing, all these countries are all Former french colonies, using CFA and are part of CEDEAO, where operation/ mission Barkhane has been on ground for 10 years, plus foreign military bases existing in those countries, prominently France. Why growing insecurity? With so much foreign military presence and weaponry? Why then the coups? Oh and let’s not forget, that France and US supported the guinea coup, and the Malian coup. Until Mali started speaking of ousting France and it’s sovereignty. Pushing for democratic elections after they asked Mali last year to change the constitution. This is all crazy. Yesterday Burkina speaks on its sovereignty and they are ready to stand up for it for the nation. I believe this is also part driven by interference of western nations and corrupt presidents who order people, while they are comfortably sitting in office.

They would love to if they have more manpower to spare. This is a perfect excuse and opportunity to invade another nation. In fact they maybe dont need to send troops at all if they can send aid instead... to the rebel (if you know what i mean)

Don't pronounce West African names in a France-French accent please. West Africans have their own French accents and names are never pronounced the way a French person from France would.
