The long-awaited Donsin International Airport project in Burkina Faso is finally nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in the country's infrastructure development. Initiated in 2013, the project faced numerous delays, including a major setback with the termination of an agreement with the original French partner. However, under the decisive leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, the project has made remarkable progress in just two years.
The Donsin Airport project promises to revolutionize air travel in Burkina Faso by enhancing both safety and efficiency. Once operational, the airport will serve as a major hub for international travel, with a capacity to accommodate up to one million passengers annually, based on 2018 projections. This increased capacity is expected to boost tourism and have a substantial impact on the national economy.
Beyond improving transportation infrastructure, the project is creating economic opportunities. The construction phase has already generated numerous jobs, and the airport's operational phase will continue to offer employment, thereby reducing unemployment and stimulating local economies.
The swift progress under President Traoré underscores the government's commitment to completing the Donsin Airport project. This commitment reflects a broader vision of economic development and international connectivity.
On May 21, 2024 the Donsin International Airport project developer organized a press visit to the construction site, allowing journalists and public speakers to witness the progress firsthand. The visit showcased the nearly complete runway and taxiways, as well as the advanced stages of the aircraft parking areas and supporting infrastructure.
During the visit, project officials highlighted the modern technologies and construction techniques being employed to ensure the airport meets international standards. Designed to handle large international flights and cater to a growing number of passengers, the new airport reflects Burkina Faso's ambition to become a significant player in regional and international aviation.
As the Donsin Airport project nears completion, Burkina Faso stands on the cusp of a new era in air travel and economic development. The project's successful realization will not only transform the country's aviation landscape but also serve as a testament to the resilience and determination of its leadership and people.
In other significant news, on May 22, the Burkinabe government announced a major shift in its banking sector with the nationalization of the Commercial Bank of Burkina (BCB). This decision, formalized through a decree issued at the end of the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, marks a pivotal moment in the country’s financial landscape as the state assumes full ownership and control of a bank that has been a joint venture between the Burkinabe State and the Libyan Arab Bank for over four decades. This nationalization is seen as a necessary step to safeguard the bank’s future and ensure it can effectively contribute to Burkina Faso's economic development.

Be honest Libya bank has not been in possession of Libya after Nato took over. Don't spread western perspective in Africa. If Gaddafi was still alive he would support Burkina Faso.

Gaddafi was not an Afrikan, nor was he a savior of Afrika! Too many Afrikans blindly believe in and trust gadaffi! If he cared as much for Afrika, he would have done more than apologize for his people's millinea old enslavement of Afrikans, paid reparations, and given Afrikan land to Afrika!!! Stop being so naive! Gadaffi was not a friend to Afrika!

@@Indigo947bro ur the reason so many africans still get played with and get laughed at. Because ur so naive and gullible to think an Arab supremacist like Ghaddafi was a friend of black africans. He was a an Arab supremacist who had only his peoples intrest at front. He said those nice things only because he needs africans at some point. So have them close but not ally-like close just so they wont think you’re an enemy. If you are a real african then u would be readin or listening to kwame, banjoi ormugja.

@@pearls1626 The person merely shared their opinion. You can likewise share your view in opposition to their or to offer a greater perspective without the need to resort to targetting others as problems. How is the OP a problem for simply making a suggestion. Don't you think the problem is your intolerance to the view of others?
