All I can say about Randy Lewis (as a former 134 NCAA wrestler), he was a damn stud!! One of the greats of college wrestling!!!

Randy Lewis was one of the greatest wrestlers ever, period.

I remember Pemberton coming into our gym and we had no idea who Daryl Burley was and he was facing one of our best wrestlers... Never forget the shock when he beat our guy and at one point had him on his back!!! Final was some crazy score like 20-11 ..cant really remember and our guy won a state championship later that year... [of course was a different weight class then Daryl]

i graduated riverside in 83, we had a good wrestler named dana whitehouse, he had some wars with john browning. township had damon techeria he was pretty good , he beat my cousin from delran in the regional 7 i wrestled a 140 lber from township named milton hazzard i didnt learn to wrestle until junior year in high school

I didn't know that...I can't imagine Burley being beat or pinned & it shows what wrestlers they were!

More than likely Burley would've been a four-time national champ if he didn't have Lewis to deal with. I still clearly remember the first time I saw Burley wrestle in high school. His school, Pemberton, was in my high school's (Pennsville) annual Christmas Tourney in those days. In the 122lb finals he went against our regular 115lber(moved up for the tourney) Tony Rafine who was no slouch as he was the D31 108lb champ the previous season. I don't remember the score but Burley scored at least a major decision. Rafine dropped back down to 115lbs for the rest of the season and three of his six losses were against Buena great Ricky Dellagatta. Rafine only lost 12-6 to Dellagatta in the R8 finals. He only lost 7-6 to eventual state champ Frank Major of TRS in the opening round of states that year. Going into our Christmas tournament not too many people from my area knew too much about Burley but after how he handled Rafine in the X-mas tourney finals he made everyone sit up and take notice...the guy was a beast.

@caneman123 remember mark bowen? south jersey was so loaded with wrestling talent back then, i live in colorado now and its a joke because theres like 6 different classes at state. it was 20 times harder to be a state champ in jersey than colorado. i think pennsylvania is that way too burley and lewis were truly world class talent wrestling each other in college. i went to glassboro in 84 but they dropped their wrestling team shortly tereafter. riverside and township were lame,paulsbo

@caneman123 mine is ron rossi, my cousin was bobby burbage, i remember your name, i grew up in delanco, best friends with billy kalmes. eric dugan wrestled with me for a semester at glassboro, we would carpool to school together, he was an awesome natural talent, but not refined. i wrestled with roger, me and him were rubbermen. does dana ever talk about wrestling anymore? i looked up to him

@caneman123 thats it, tell cindy you talked to me, shell get a kick out of it. i hope i can reminisce with dana, i followed his carreer, but he didnt know me , i was real good friends with his friend mike scott though
