Thanks, I'm a Ukrainian infantryman in this hard time, I'm the only one speaking English in my company and we have only one certified paramedic for 250 men, your huge amount of videos really helps to adapt to western medical supplies that we got supplied with even unskilled grunt like me.

Burn jel products are amazing. When my son was two he burned himself with an iron. Being prepared helped. He had a 2nd degree burn and was crying uncontrollable. I applied burn gel and gauze and it sooth him right away. Also helped with the scars as it reduced it to where it looks non existence.

You hit on it, but to make the point again, dont use of alot of pressure when wrapping a burn wound. It can compress the damaged area which can slow cooling, and also damage already damaged cells. Light pressure to keep it in place. Great Vid again!!

They make larger versions of these dressings up to 40 x 40cm for larger burns They also make a special one for total face burns, and they are bloody amazing! You do have to watch the core body temperature, but that is true of any large burn no matter what you use to treat it.

Is burn jel ok to be put on full thickness and partial thickness and covered with a dry sterile gauze pad or petroleum gauze then wrapped with loosely with cling. Also what is better dry or petroleum gauze.

I just found your Channel.. just in case you run out of ideas on videos to do. I would like to hear an update on your snake bite knowledge. I seen the last video, but I would like to know what different steps you would take if it was a WROL or grid down situation..
@brianmurphy6760

I have read, and been told that you can use petroleum gauze, and a dry TacWrap cravat on burns especially if that is all you have. Is there any truth to this? If so what degree of burn is it ok to do so, and when should you not? I figure you would be the person who could definitively set me straight on this either way, so please let me know if this is right or not, and your opinions, and why either way. I have been following your channel for awhile. I discovered you shortly after I was diagnosed with colon cancer on my forty-second birthday. I beat it, but man, what a fight! Your videos inspired me, and kept me going at times. The gun videos are awesome, and helped me know that I would have fun again, too eventually. But, your willingness to share your knowledge just for the simple fact that you want to help others, and apparently did long before KZfaq. You are an inspiration to many, and certainly me. Your willingness to teach has made me want to pay that forward, which I have, and still do. I always want to better myself. I really did not think this comment would go on so long, and I apologize for that. It just kind of happened. Thank you for all of your content. I learn something with every video, and I will support this channel indefinitely. Thank you!

How long should it be applied? What should we look out for and how should it be treated? What are the signs of infection and how should it be treated in austere environments over time.
@RSPDiver

j johns Until a medical professional pulls it off, generally. Infection will usually come with swelling, runaway pain, smell/ooze, and maybe fever. But I’ll defer to Mr. Easter for a definitive answer.

Break the circuit using a long, non-conductive tool. Manage shock, then transport immediately because that will be a deep internal burn that needs hospital care.

Opinion on burn gel expiration? Is the expiration more CYA and still good for a while? I have a couple 4x4s and also their small gel packs (no fabric pad) which are useful for smaller areas such as fingers... Big fan of the product.

So more or less these burn dressings are more to cool the immediate area (if you don't have access or time to use 20min of cold running water) and to limit/prevent infections? First aid training here in Australia only covers the 20min of cold water and doesn't mention any type of burn dressings or gels unless it's actual medical professional training of some type. Is the any advantage of burn dressings over cold running water for non-medical professionals, say a blacksmith, boiler maker or kitchen staff for example?
@SkinnyMedic

Less risk of infection
@panpiper
@panpiper 5 жыл бұрын
Skinnymedic is right of course, but if it is just a first or second degree burn with blisters intact, I would recommend cold, gently running water until you are close to ready for transport. (First degree, even just a wet, often refreshed towel is likely best.) It is best to rid the area of as much heat as possible, and the gel will warm quickly compared to water. Third degree you have infection sources all over, and running water can move those into the wound. For third degree, a gel pad and transport asap.
@RSPDiver
@RSPDiver 5 жыл бұрын
The problem I see is panic, and too strong of water stream. A bowl of cold (or iced) water would be ideal, but sucks fo transport.

There is little more painful than having a burn wound touched. Wiping the contents of a bottle onto a wound would be painful to a patient in the extreme, all to save less than ten bucks. No thanks, I'll use the gel pad.
@kelly9283
@kelly9283 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, the bottle of burn gel is...gel. Applying it and topping it off with an adherent dressing is no more painful. Speaking from experience.

@@SkinnyMedic thanks for the response. Jjohns and z14sniper had some good questions. Particularly, why use this over a dry sterile burn dressing? All first aid resources I've read say to not use gel anything on a burn. I'm a total beginner and trying to learn about this. Thanks you.
@SkinnyMedic
@SkinnyMedic 5 жыл бұрын
Last time I checked the comments those had all been answered. The main reason is pain controlled. You wouldn't want to use these over a large surface area due to cooling off the body. In that case I would use dry sterile dressing. ( Which I mentioned in the video) Any other questions you have?
