But Fela and Tony Allen named Afrobeat a music with a powerful politic and social meaning, very far away from the superficiality and empty vocals of the most of the named "afrobeatS": kzfaq.infoxsqhuT2zuMA?si=7e3hDD4bNQcO6ue- The "s" marks the difference.

Geraldo Pino or Gerald Pine a Sierra Leonean-Nigerian was the guy that influenced Fela the most. In actuality, all of these guys congregated in Accra Ghana to create the High Life and Soco Soul brand of music. So Afrobeat is a West African thing that evolved from Milo Jazz and Palm Wine music to its present form.

@vlosa2439

Gillie he doesn't understand your question. Afrobeat is a combination of Africans imitating people like James brown. The first afrobeat sound came from the Korean war when Ethiopian military musicians came in contact with African American military bands and the Ethiopians copied the African American styles into Ethiopian musical tapestry creating the first afrobeat on the African Continent then Fela Kuti followed and did the same thing that the Ethiopians did decades before him !

Fela Kuti is the father of AfroBeqt but he was inspired by Black Americans and black panthers in LA when he visited. After that he had a Epiphany about unifying Africa hence the name of the genre Afrobeat he want it all African people to be unified. Burna Boy doesn’t even know his own damn history.
@3nyx
@3nyx Жыл бұрын
It’s still his epiphany that lead to the term ‘afrobeat’. he’s not wrong just because he didn’t list Fela Kuti’s inspirations

Shut up,there are many other sides to Afrobeat history,even the sides you don't know... All depends on the particular aspect the interviewer wants to know..The fact that Burna didn't say it all doesn't mean his knowledge is limited and the fact that you said some other parts doesn't mean you know it all and others don't.

Felas politics was inspired but not the music . He wasn’t hanging out with musicians in the US , he hanged out with activist and then he because an activist in Nigeria through his music . Fela was a freedom fighter but he founded Afrobeat and named it . What is the argument here ? Burna Boy is still 100% correct . I know Americans like to take credit for other people’s hard work

FELA .....gave birth to Afrobeat through high life, jazz (black culture) and Nigeria cultural background (yoruba especially) sounds....that's why you hear all kind of percussion sounds from His progressions Like konga drum...bata drum .sekere e.t.c ..........just to say less

FELA KUTI GOT INSPIRATION FROM BLACK AMERICANS WHEN CREATING AFROBEATS
@evafeito5207
@evafeito5207 7 ай бұрын
Fela Kuti and Tony Allen created the Afrobeat, without s, they never called it afrobeatS. It was a very powerful music inspired in tradicional rythms as Juju, Fuji and Apala music from Nigeria, modern styles as highlife from Ghana and also Jazz from Europe (Fela went to UK before his trip to the States) and USA. And the political and social component of the Afrobeat (without "s") was a result of Fela's contact with the Black Panters Party in the USA through Sandra Isadore. I am astonishing about how so little contemporary africans cultural "referents" have no idea at all about their own cultural history and icons.
