When I was 12, my Sisters Husband Hank would ask me if I wanted to come out with him and watch/experience what he was doing and I always said yes please and loved every minute of it. He would counsel me to listen to the sounds the machines made and explain that they were communicating with him about pushing to hard or going too fast or too slow. I loved going to work with Hank. He loved to go hunting and he was coming home through a freak wind storm on the Hope Princeton Highway .

Been a while since I got to see Chris working his motorgrader. My favorite piece of equipment he operates for some reason. I guess it's the way he uses it to finesse rock and dirt into where he wants it. Underbelly shots are the best.

You do a good job with your brush burning, a dirty and difficult job. I've burned a lot of brush piles, on a monthly basis for 32+yrs. Probably 3-5% only burned perfectly, all of the other piles were a lot of work! I finally accepted that brush burning was difficult, "just the nature of the beast." Thanks for the video.

Chris…..long time viewer here….all 👍! Next time you’re on the road grader, would love to hear your thoughts and considerations on what goes into building a road from scratch…..soil removal…clay base types and depths….overlayment types and gravel information based on what you’re trying to achieve at different price points. To a layperson like me, it looks like there might have been gravel soils that could have been used here…. but wouldn’t have worked. Incredible work ethic! Great videos and amazing content…..thanks for bringing us along

I’m not Chris, but here goes, many variables, are you planning on building at El Paso TX or Grand Rapids MI, the freeze line is so much different. Are you planning for a home or a commercial truck parking area, MI you start 4-5 ft deep TX start 1-2 ft deep that’s a significant difference. Look for someone local to get you started. Good luck with your search.

If someone plants a tree on this hole, the tree will thrive like no other business if the hole can support its weight. The forms of carbon and rich elements found in the burnt tree dust will support trees for years to come. I put ashes on our trees, and they love it. Just not too much at a time - have it sink in.

Question for you Chris. I truly don't know the answer to this. When you want to clean the dirt from all those roots and trees when your restacking, why don't you shake the stuff with the arm or the bucket? Is it bad for the equipment or just not work as well as picking it up and dropping it?

I often wonder why Chris hasn't designed a giant fork to sift the sticks out of the dirt and ash in the fires. I have no doubt that an attachment such as this, interchangeable on the 220s and useable with the thumb, would quickly pay for itself in fuel savings alone. I would think it would reduce the amount of time he spends sifting through the piles by half at least. Which in turn also cuts down on wear and run hours on the machines. I can't see how he could go wrong with it.
