Interesting fact, the reason magnesium burns so insanely hot like this is because it combines with nitrogen just as well as it does oxygen. It doesn't care whether it forms magnesium oxide or magnesium nitride, it burns in either one, unlike most things which only can burn by combining with the oxygen which only makes up 21% of air.

I worked in a scrap yard cutting up bus engines, one time I got one with a magnesium sump , I soon found out how well it burns when I tried cutting gear on the bolt studs , spectacular doesn’t even come close lol

Burning magnesium gives off lots of ultraviolet light. And it is imperative that you wear eye protection that can block UV when you're burning it

You should be wearing eye protection that can filter out ultraviolet light. Burning magnesium can give off ultraviolet light or Ultra violet radiation. And will severely damage your eyes because of this.

I wouldn't do it inside, I always do it outside where it can't burn anything because there's always a chance something could go wrong. This also makes a lot of smoke, burns extremely hot and can only be put out with a class D fire extinguisher. Thanks for watching

so using magnesium strip to light up your camp fire requires a blow torch. Maybe just using the blow torch might work just as well.
