This brings back a lot of memories for me as well - I was trainee at the club during that season and the next. I can't be absolutely certain, but I believe that is me in the blue jacket shoveling the pitch at 11:57.

First time on the Longside was 1973/74 season against QPR, worst memory on their was the Celtic riot in 1978, Anglo Scottish Cup. R.I.P Longside 🏐🥅🏟️😭

Taking off the rose tinted glasses - it was tolerable but not great. Sometimes you'd end up fighting in lumps whether you wanted to or not. It wasn't the friendliest end. As a Manc who lived in Burnley, my fondest memory of the place was climbing up the girders in the roof stanchions and watching the Lawman knock two in in a 2-1 win, but as I had many friends who were Burnley fans, I recall one day when Liverpool were the visitors, and the Longside was a seething mass of Scouse red and white, until a small crowd of lads who looked like they'd just got home from a nightclub infiltrated them and pretty quickly forced them back. Then Billy K let rip with his umbrella - brella brella ay ay.

I totally welcome 'The North Stand'..or.'James Hargreaves Stand' as we know it....and have no fond recollections of "The Longside"...it,to me-was a complete embarrassment as a Burnley Supporter..it was cold,unwelcoming,the bogs were awful, and as for that 'Hot-Dog' stand,well Hot freakin' Horse-meat' if ya' ask me !..it was just a shit-ole..!! I only ever went on when I'd been a nipper with my Uncle and in later-life...when getting a ticket for the 'Cricket Field' or 'Bob Lord' was restrictive.I have slight fond memories of the Bee-Hole' end...but even then...only when it was a 'sunny' Spring or Autumn day and those are in short supply 'round ere' But 'The Jimmy Mac' is brill and I've had 3 or 4 season tickets in there. I welcome all the modern improvements...TOTALLY !
