Something to keep in mind with DMC5’s battle themes is that you never hear them in their entirety during the game. Devil May Cry uses a style ranking to tell you how well you’re doing during any given fight; Flashier combos and cleaner fights raise your grade while taking damage and spamming the same moves lowers it. The music you here reflects your current ranking. At lower ranks you hear a slightly stripped version of the intro and buildup, and as you build up the style meter you transition into the more intense sections with more audio layers mixed in. Basically, cooler fights = better music

Fun fact, when capcom asked Casey Edwards to compose Vergil's theme they told him NO GUITARS apart from in the chorus. He explains it better in an interview on KZfaq somewhere

This song has been on repeat for months now. Think of this song as acts to a play or classical comp. The first half of the song sets up for an explosive ending. The end portion of the song is intense and I have gotten body highs just from the intensity of his voice during that last vocal portion.

Vergil can be one of - if not THE coolest character in videogame history, but also an extremely tragic one. And this song portrays it perfectly. It has the feeling of awesomeness, but you can feel the turbulence and noise on his mind, sprinkled with the sadness to counterbalance the pathos. An instant classic.

This song is insane, it has everything and is so well composed with so much detail. I got chills listening to this the first time.

One of my favourite tracks ever. I can repeat this over and over without getting tired of it. DMC5 is such a good game, and this song perfectly fits Vergil.

Something I hadn't noticed until I listened to this several times, when the part at 6:55 - 7:21 ends, it's used as background noise very subtly until 8:12. That's probably one one of the coolest parts about this song.

I've been looking forward to this. Glad you liked it A few things: Yes that is Vergil on screen. He's super awesome. This song was written based off his character. It's at first this cocky and powerful tune but as it gets towards the end (6:04), you can hear the sadness in the lyrics. His brother (Dante) and his story is incredible. Tbh I have no clue how casey made those awesome sounds but I assume it's similar to how Mick Gordon made the DOOM ost. If you want more Casey Edwards and Devil May Cry, I highly recommend "Devil Trigger" first, which was also made by Casey Edwards and sung by his wife Ali. There's actually a lot of amazing songs from all of the dmc games but Devil Trigger is a good place to start. (The last guitar solo was actually apart of Devil Trigger 9:07)

I think this might be my new favorite music reaction channel. You don't pause the song every 2 seconds and interrupt the flow of it, so we can still get a good reaction, *and* listen to the song proper.

The more melodic part near the end with the background more subdued low vocals is a reference to DMC3 Battle music, the specific lyrics are as well "beyond the tree" specifically off the top of my head is pretty much a direct reference.

Man, I think you will be in love with Geoffplaysguitar 's Doom Cover of Bloodborne track - Ludwig The Holy Blade. The guy made a shredding doom-esque argent track out of a waltz. i never get tired of seeing peoples first reaction to this song and even to this day the song still gives me chills. it is truly a masterpiece.

You probably couldn't have noticed but you can tell in this, the singer who represents Vergil has more humanity but also demonic yet they have a fusion & balance, this is reflective of what happens with his two halves in 5 before they come together. Also with the more somber parts and a few parts in this song, there is what seems to be a reference to Vergil's past, one of the lyrics about a fire or something sounded like the moment with his mother's death.

I adore the way the climax that the whole song builds toward isn't bigger and harder and harsher than everything else like you expect, but _perfect composure_ with absolute confidence. It doesn't _need_ to go any harder. It makes everything that came before feel effortless, and that's infinitely more impressive.

Gosh, this song is just absolutely amazing, along with Devil Trigger (I recommend checking out) but sheesh ever since the song came out I still listen to it!

Other song that's worth checking out on this OST is Devil Trigger, which is Nero, Son of Vergil, theme song. It's also worth checking out Devils Never Cry and Cerberus Combat (I like the HR/HM Version but the original is great too).

I was a music producer to an intermediate level at best in 7 years but let me tell you this song alone would take me almost 10 years to make. There are levels to music producing like legit. Coming in late; but as a devil may cry fan is that all their soundtracks for the game series had vocals and rhythm tracks that followed the player through out the games. This track if you go back to the older games was turned to a beautifying masterpiece. In my opinion Vergils tracks had always had meaning too. So the lyrics are always pulled and based within the games story. But you should totally play the games to see what I mean. ❤

Devil May Cry is one of the best (IMHO) game series ever made - not only the storyline and gameplay is great, but also the characters and OST just kicks ass. DMC 3-5 are definitively the best games released so far. Beside...: - Vergil is for sure one of the most hyped fan-favorite character in this series - and for fun fact he's not even the protagonist, but perfect "last boss" antagonist to the main protagonist, which... Is also his twin brother. "Bury The Light" is just a perfect song for him, ending up as easily Top 3 song from any DMC games for most of the fans. - "Devil Never Cry" (DMC3 OST) by many fans of this franchise IS "The DMC Theme Song".
