Edgar Allan Poe once said, "even in the grave, all is not lost".
This sentiment holds true for African cultures, which believe that the spirit of the dead lives on.
This week, two bodies were found buried on top of other graves in Pienaar, Mpumalanga.
Bonisiwe Mabuza, who was robbed and later killed, had her body exhumed on Monday.
Three people linked to her killing have been arrested.
In another case, six-year-old Junior Mabandla was killed and his body mutilated, allegedly by an 18-year-old man.
Cultural experts believe that the spirits of all the departed have been violated and that the affected families must perform rituals to appease them.
