The strength of that bus is pretty impressive, even in the aftermath it looks like it could be restored. I find it weird that even the seats inside still maintained their form even in the aftermath, when you look through the door and windows.

For the people who wonder why they let it burn so long in training, it is probably because it is most likely a volunteer FD. They are trying to simulate what it would be like if they actually had to respond. You have to remember, they don't stay at fire station. Vollies have to to get in car & drive to FD, oftwn getting caught behind people that don't want to pull over. Does anyone remember an old creepy fire safety video from elementary school in the 80s? I remember it showed a burning school bus and then inside of it after it was all burnt up, creepy music along the way. Just curious because that video terrified me as a kid.

Great training fire department. It's scary how fast a bus will go up. Been involved in two school bus accidents, one with a car under the front of the bus and one which was under the rear of the bus, the tailpipe was embedded into the passenger's seat of my neighbor's car. No fires thank God.

9 years later, i found it.

Hit the entire metal ceiling of the bus to cool down the top temperature so it settles down and then knock it all out .

Most automatic transmission on heavy diesels don't have a park, unlike cars/pickups. Aluminum and steel have high melting point. And odds are the fire will be electrical, if not something related to the engine. It takes time for heat/fire to work it's way to the transmission to "burn through it". It'll be slag before gravity will get the bus to roll, plus, the tires will blow and go flat before the aluminum case will melt.

We had a bus start on fire over night in our parking lot. The good melted to the engine. The tires all melted, all that was left was the steel belts.

Holy shit! Some of the comments on here ! I'm pretty sure no of you even have been a school bus let alone passed the third grade! First off its training , to help educate firemen in tactics and water stream usage and approach angles. Second , vehicles burn like this everyday all over the world , these 2 buses won't make a shit in a world with toxic waste, illegal dumping and other major issues on a global scale, Third , judging by some very rookie mistakes that I saw, this dept. would benefit from more of this type of training.
