Dave you are the backwoods, culinary master! I've followed your cooking series, and your bush pot systems make it super simple to "pack light," and eat good out in the woods. Obviously your craft, is your business, and you've developed equipment, for said craft, and business. You're a smart business man and outdoor expert!! Keep up the great work! I have not a single issue supporting your business, and your channel. ✌️

I vacuum seal dehydrated potatoes that are extremely easy to pack, use, and are light weight in a go bag but when camping, nothing beats whole potatoes on the fire.

Dave teaches so many aspects of bushcraft. I started at survival and realized survival is when something in my trip into nature has gone bad. Bushcraft is connecting to nature. Dave seems to be a guy who does his best to help others get connected to nature.

Now that I'm disabled, I hang around camp , and cook . I dehydrat lots of vegetables and meats , I like to make stews , soups , beans , from scratch if possible, ill have dehydrated foods set in the pickup. I like using my twig stoves on top of cement tables at some of my spots not too many people know about. I've made up 2 kits I carry all the time , I will use the bedroll cookers too , when possible ill catch a small squirrel cooker to add in my sets . I've found some large plastic buckets with snap lids , I keep lots of my stuff dry and clean.

I also add powdered butter and sour cream. I use powdered smoked cheddar instead of standard. I use different dehydrated ingredients with it. Sometimes brocolli, kale, mustard greens, scallions, and parsley. I will also wild forage and add fresh fungi and/or lambs quarter or wood sorrell if in season. Wild onions are always growing around here, I use them in almost all Bush cooking. Fresh fish, squirrel, rabbit, all great with fresh wild onions.

Hello Dave, I have been watching your videos now for about 10 years. Being a fellow southerner, I have always been the outdoor type, raised on a farm by good country folk. I would like to personally thank you for your dedication to your trade. Because of your diligence i have become far more self reliant, i have obtained a certain level of preparedness that i would have never gained had i not became more interested through your channel. This is the first time i have ever commented on any of your videos. But i figured it was time to give credit where it was due my friend! as a younger fellow i always told myself i couldn't take certain adventures because of lack of gear or knowledge etc. the simplicity of your down home and historical skills changed that for me, i began to put myself into more outdoor living, camping and just generally getting out into the woods more. i have enjoyed every video brother they have inspired me and encouraged me to become more knowledgeable , to learn more about simple living, and to educate myself on how people lived before me, its really not difficult just to open our minds . I thank you for your hard work brother. my friends and i will always know you as a good teacher . thank you david

Oh, boy do I love tater soup! Maybe because it doesn't take much to turn into a chowder of choice? Love the fire pit - that's where friendships were made during the after hours at the Pathfinder school while everyone is trying to dry out their tinder materials and staying up until midnight or longer. Those of us who wanted hot coffee in the mornings came down early to the fire pit to heat our water and visit while others slept in. The community fire pit is an important part of the school experience. I got one of those grill grates, and it is stout enough to hold a 16" cast iron Dutch oven to get it off the ground as a trivet. Nothing flimsy about that piece of kit. Wishing you and your cadre a great and prosperous 2022.

Mr. Canterbury, you could also add instant potatoes to your soup to thicken it. It would easily add into the powder mixture. Just put around 1cup. Or you could play with the amount. I truly enjoy your videos. Thank you

_so many dehydrated products such as dried garlic, dried onions. Dehydrated mushrooms and veggies. Salt , pepper, herbs, spices and chilli. Rice, corn flours. They weigh next to nothing and bring the flavours right up to chef level. Also dried cured sausage. Chorizo, salami and dried cheese like parmesan. All those things that are easy to carry and boost the flavours. Happy new year to you and yours brother_

The only thing I could suggest adding would be a cube of chicken bullion, or half of one. The water amount will do no harm; hell, you're hydrating while you eat. Win-Win in my book. Also, hearing "Pooter Stomper" will, and for always, make me giggle like a juvenile delinquent. EVERY TIME. I'm seriously considering attending the gathering in July partly because of that nickname. The frivolity will never end. Happy New Year, sir. And thank YOU for what you do for those who believe in fending for themselves. Peace be upon you and yours.

I never bring much in the way of cutlery either, it’s actually just a paired down bamboo spatula, some chopsticks and an all-purpose knife. Never needed a spoon much because I don’t tend to carry any food thats either heavy or powdery enough to make stews or require ladling, it’s mainly just some brown rice, some onions and then the fish I catch. Any soups I’ll drink out of my mug and pick up the bits with the chopsticks. I find that I savour each bite more with the chopsticks anyway. It’s more deliberate eating if that makes sense and smaller bites chewed properly is not a bad thing either - it’s kind of meditative eating that draws out the meal compared to just shoveling it down, which is sometimes tempting after a long day at it …
