This is all 13 Bushcraft Camp Update episodes merged into one, with no talking, just pure bushcraft shelter building. Featuring the Hunting Tower with ladder, Dog House, Giant Lean-to shelter, small lean to shelter with wood roof, raised bed, fire pit, log store, main tarp roof with pulley system, bushcraft bench and all perimeter walls.
The Bushcraft Camp Update series has been my favourite series to date. Building a natural shelter from resources found in the woods has always been a passion of mine, as has spending the night alone in the forest. By building this camp I have the opportunity to learn Bushcraft & Survival skills whilst doing solo overnight camps at the same time. To start with I built this supershelter using cheap tools to save money. As my knowledge developed I began to purchase better quality tools to help me get tasks done faster.
My favourite part of the series was definitely Bushcraft Camp Update 11 where I built the Hunting Tower with ladder completely on my own. It wasn't an easy build, and I made many mistakes along the way, but I learnt from them, and for me that was the most important part: to learn to work with nature and not against it.
Now that this Bushcraft Log Cabin is pretty much complete, I can spend time chilling in the woods, learning more about my surroundings and learning primitive technology to further develop my survival knowledge. This adventure has been amazing and I'm so pleased you guys could join along with me. Thank you for watching the camp update series and for watching the videos! - Mike

Watch all of our Historic Builds inspired by our Ancestors: kzfaq.info/sun/PLxnadpeGdTxD9oAbeZcYKiGO7p3gIXmuZ When I started this project a few years ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, or how addictive it would become. For the past 5 days straight I have managed to find all of the footage for every episode of the Bushcraft Camp Update series (all 13 episodes over the past few years). For this video, I have merged them together into one epic build video, starting from the first fire reflector I built just over 2 years ago, to the full finished camp which it is now. I don't talk in this video until right at the end, where I talk you through the tools that I have used to build this camp, as well as some information on the permission I have to build here, the trees I used for the camp build and general questions that you guys have asked me over the years. If you watched this video all the way through I am truly grateful, and if you found at least one part of it that inspired you to get outside and enjoy life, then I feel it has been a success. You truly are incredible subscribers and I feel lucky to have such a loyal fanbase. Gotta go now, adventure awaits.......... - Mike

I just found your channel. I am very impressed. I am from Alabama in the United States. I grew up in the country with my dad. He taught us the same way he was raised. If you were hungry, you grew a garden or you went hunting ( or fishing if you were near the river or pond). He taught us how to build different types of shelters depending on the situation. With everyone depending on technology these days ,it makes me so proud to see these type of skills still being used.

Don't have access to large amounts of sheet moss either! Nor ferns in that quantity. Ain't complaining though. Natural cordage here in abundance, as is fatwood from our varieties of pine. Eastern red cedar bark tinder and I'm sure, often, more fire resistant earth, as red clay abounds on and just below the layer of forest litter. :-)

@oldtimerlee8820

HH, generally it's a matter of saving nickles and dimes to make dollars. Then buying the best your dollars can afford. Are there ways you can earn money to buy a budget hatchet? (There are decent budget friendly hatches on the market). Run errands? Mow a lawn? Birthday coming up? Let friends/family know what you'd like to have. Next, you don't have to have tall straight trees! The whole purpose of self-reliance, in the woods, is to use the resources around you. Native Americans, on the Great Plains, didn't have an abundance of trees in that vast grassland. Nor, did they have metal axes and saws. They are a wonderful example of making the best use, they could, of the resources available to them. Depending on where you live, you have a tremendous resource, peoples of that era didn't have -- neighborhood yard sales and second-hand stores. It may take a while, but you can build a decent kit, for pennies on the dollar by wise shopping. It all depends on what goals you set for yourself and how hard you honestly try to meet those goals. Modest goals and expectations are far easier to achieve. They, then, provide a good foundation to build upon. Just some words of advice, from an old timer who once didn't have a "nice hatchet" either! Godspeed in your journey.
@oldtimerlee8820
@oldtimerlee8820 6 жыл бұрын
Colby, everyone starts somewhere. Some are more fortunate than others. I see from your video listing that you do have the opportunity to get outdoors. I see that you are old enough to work a full or part time job to earn money to, at least, buy inexpensive gear to get started. Think about this: How big is a sheet of plywood? Easy it is 4' x 8'. Now think about what you can physically do with a piece of ground the size of a sheet of plywood. Build a shelter over it. Sleep on it. Cook on it. Practice knife skills on it, from feather sticks to battoning wood. Learn to tie knots on it. Learn to forage natural resources surrounding it. That's just a few things you can do in an area the size of a sheet of plywood. That is, if you really want to learn how to do them. Your choice, my friend. "Oh well" is a sign of being defeated before you begin. There are many, many outdoor's men (bushcrafters) do NOT have access to the resources needed to build "A Full Super Shelter". Many cannot build anything that has an air of permanence, because they are limited to using public recreation areas, if they want to get outdoors. Man, pick your self up by your bootstraps (an old cliche) and get outdoors. According to your videos, you have access. Then build your skills and resources. Luck has nothing to do with it. Grit, determination and doing the best that you can with what you have is often the true basis for success.

When the lights go out, and they WILL go out, you'll be one of the few who will survive. People today, especially kids are so dependent on technology and wouldn't know how to navigate by Sun & Stars, make a fire for heat, or secure and cleanse drinking water. Your father has done well teaching you these skill, I've taught my children. Great video.
@ethanmorris
@ethanmorris 5 жыл бұрын
I VERY MUCH DISAGREE. We kids are just as capable as adults, we kids have drive. The attitude presented towards kids from adults is infuriating. Indeed, many of our generation fills a lot of there time watching a screen, but we are learning. Much of what we are learning is not from adults but from technology! I an 11 year old am watching this right now. Adults spend a lot of time complaining about, 'kids these days.' But adults, not all but many are so ageist towards the people in which are the future of the world!
@ColdWarVet607
@ColdWarVet607 5 жыл бұрын
@@ethanmorris Not kids like you Ethan, you are a smart one! Of course I'm not laying that on all kids but there is a bad side to technology as well as the good. The bad side is becoming dependent on it and having it do the things you (we all) should be doing or learning for ourselves. At 62 I still write letters to my family and friends, I think that is something nearly no one does anymore, there's a personal touch and form of communications that a text or email can't replace. But I stand by what I said and i didn't mean 11 yr olds, more like 20 and 30 yr olds. Very doubtful the near total of them could even start a fire to keep themselves from freezing to death or even know which way is N,S,E,W. But I like you Fire and I like that your here, pass it on to others, thats the best thing you could do for your friends.

My mom had two frances and fred,fred was a car chaser had to leash him,he couldn't help himself,liked to nip at the ankles too if you ran,mean little poot sometimes,France liked to kill kittens we always thought she longed to be a mother our cat had a litter and she would sneak one off we would find it dead,until one day I watched her and saw her rip the head off of the last kitten,I much prefer bird dogs,smart and sweet,my bird dog only loves to chase birds and is a fierce protector always knows to be gentle with children and tolerates the occasional yank of the tail from the toddlers,never so much as growls at children.

Your vids totally inspires me mate and sharing time with your dad in the bush makes it magical. I'm 61 years young, retired and want to get more out my property here. Hi, I’m from Canada and our population is 27million . I live in Yellowknife Northwest Territories. On the north shore of Great Slave Lake. I have worked in the bush for mining exploration company’s . Spending anywhere to 3 to 6 months at a time. Most of the time was spent in two man camps. A few times I ran bigger camps up to 10 people. I love the bush but can’t work in the bush anymore my knees are worn out. Both of them need to be replaced. Your a pretty talented guy. I liked making my camp as comfortable as possible because you are going to be living there for a long time. Most of the work I did was done in the winter. The weather can be very cold . The winter of 1988 was the coldest I’ve ever experienced. The first week in December of that year we woke up to a temperature of - 84 C it stayed like that for almost 2 weeks. We stayed in camp fixing up our walk tents to make then warmer. A double fly on the roof banking snow around them all helped to keep us from freezing lol!!! A double layer of spruce bows helped also. We had air tight wood heaters which are very efficient. Seeing you working on your camp brought back memories. I know woke in tourism. We have a cabin in the bush . It’s off a highway totally off grid but we have done lots of upgrades. Indoor plumbing and electricity supplied by a generator. We have a battery bank which can supply power up to 16 hours. We work in the aurora tourism industry. We bring in Asian people to see northern lights. Our clients are mostly Chinese South Koreans and Taiwanese. I haven’t been able to break into the Japanese market yet . The pandemic stopped us in our tracks. Lost a hundred percent of our revenue. We still have the cabin to go to. My partner lives there year round. Are you on Facebook? Anyway keep up the good work. Totally enjoyed the video. Bye for now take care be safe.

A few people talking about "survival". Survival is when you're trying to stay alive long enough to get out of a situation, this is bushcraft which is more like just being happy and content with the situation you are in and using certain skills to stay in that situation for as long as you want. Just sayin Edit - hope this doesn't sound too arseholy 😬
