It is a great tent. We have the Abisko Dome 3 and we use it for cycling holidays (I am Dutch...). When it is set up, it is a great tent. And with storm and rain it is even nicer (no problem at all). But it ain't perfect either. There is allways a lot of condensation, and I don't like packing a wet tent. Speaking of packing, the first time I got crazy because of all those lines. You must absolutely bundle the lines before packing (we use rubber bands). I wunder if you will use the groundsheet and why you do or don't. Please tell us your experciences.

I must now confess, that probably the first and definitely the last time I slept in a tent was some 36 years ago. I stepped out of the tent in the dark and into thin air. I turned and sort of slid down about two and a half metres. I was eight months pregnant and got the shock of my life. No nasty comments please, I've heard them all. Most of them from myself. Nice to see You two back

Always wanted a keb dome! But for multi day trek just kind of heavy. Then you add a bear canister and oof i mean is doable but talk about a pain. Im hauling 10L of water on a 3 day in the dessert this weekend and my pack is around 20.4KG thats all thanks to the abisko with the inner net mesh configuration instead of the actual inner tent fabric. Thats one of the things i love about the fjallraven tent you can customize it. Inner mesh, double poles for winter conditions. Or straight skeleton without the rainfly config. Versatile at its best.

The only thing I do not love with this design (and the fact that it is not a light tent) is that the poles are threaded through sleeves. This makes it somewhat harder to pitch in windy conditions that in.ex Hilleberg Allak/Sika/Soulo which has has clip attachments with the poles running on the outside of the flysheet. Other than that, I think this is one of the best designed dome-tents on the marked right now.

Can't wait to see you put this tent through it's paces in some trying conditions Al! I own the Abisko Dome 3, only used it in fair weather, but I am certain it could cope with 99% of the weather one might encounter. I love this tent because it is so versatile. Open all the doors, vents and take off the roofcover if you know it is going to be a hot sumner day, and do the opposite when the weather calls for it. Use the vestibule that is downwind as entry and exit, use the other for cooking and storage. Also having a door on each side prevents you having to climb over one another if you bring a friend. For anyone looking to invest in the dome series of Fjellreven tents, the abisko will do in almost any weather, except if you are a stormchaser or on an expedition to one of the poles or Greenland. If you are like me and my spouse that enjoy a little more comfort and space, then go for the 3 man as a 2 person tent, you won't regret it. We went on a multiday trek (7 days) and the extra space is gold when you need to stay inside the tent in bad weather to change and airdry clothes. You also gain a couple of centimeters of headroom in the 3 man, which is priceless when you are two. Also makes it easier to organize your personal gear and keep it separated.

Now that looks like an update on the Ultimate Phasor Dome a cracking Yorkshire tent. Ultimate Equipment we're based in Halifax (I think, although I recall a mill near Batley). My tent has alternating green and cream panels and is still going strong after 45-ish years. If this Scandinavian version survives as well even the £1,000 price tag could be good value.

I see this tent in UK mountain terrain. My problem is that I hardly ever find broad peaks in Europe’s mountains or at least not to my convenience. I feel more confident with a smaller tent and smaller footprint. Got the Hilleberg Unna for that reason and going to have a look at the BD Highlight as well. Best of luck with your wonderful new tent. I’m looking forward to your upcoming adventures.

Incredibly nice to "live in" this tent. Ventilation and inside height is awesome. Especially the ventilation is underrated compared to other manufacturers. Many people doesn't seem to get that better ventilation = less condensation. Got the Abisko Dome 2 myself (using Keb Endurance 3 for more extreme stuff). Only things I do not like about it is the setup process, which can be a lot of hassle in strong winds compared to the tunnel tents or clip-on dome tents (like HB Soulo).
@BUSHMANandBLUE

Yea I’ll have to test it out but bigger tents are definitely harder to pitch. It’s swings and roundabouts though as the clip on pole tents the clips freeze and can be a pain.

I once camped in a wind storm in the desert. My tent, a North Face mountain tent just sat there and never moved. My friend, in his dollar store super cheap tent had to be rescued as his tent collapsed on him in the middle of the night. Pay as much as you can for a quality tent, it's all that stands between you and possible hypothermia and a horrible hideous frozen demise on a hill.

Thanks for this video. I’ve been researching Hillebergs for a few weeks now, but I think this is the winner. 3000 HH though, I wonder just how waterproof that is. @@azclaimjumper Hello, it was me making the Hilleberg comments. Yes, the Hilleberg are much higher (Black label are 5,500 and the rest below are 5,000). I've read a lot over the past couple of days about HH and whilst 3,000 may be fine, more is better. With this particular tent though, I would use it with my wife, who probably wouldn't go out in massive storms like I would, so 3,000 may be fine for this usage. Looks like an awesome tent, I just wish the HH were higher. For my own solo tent I'd either go for the Hilleberg Staika or Soulo BL. Yes it's weight, but I just consider it as extra exercise.

New tents --- always fun and exciting!!! So far --- This one looks like a winner, and appears to be a big step up in the tent dept. for Fjallraven. Materials, design, and extra thoughtful features should be well-suited to multi-use in wide-ranging multi-conditions --- mild to wild. The no-se-um mesh associated with the fly entrances and vents provide great additional features not often seen. Especially nice in a fly-only pitch scenario.

When you come to to use it in earnest I'd like to see a postscript to this one showing what the pack size and weight is like if you split it into two bags for two people to carry. The inner and poles in one and the fly and pegs in another. Great channel, keep them coming. A chuck under the chin to Blue.

Are the Zippers YKK COIL zippers or YKK zippers with teeth? Line runners appear to be a design similar to Hilleberg Line Runners which is a good thing. The vestibule is absolutely massive. The inner & outer elastic attachments are also similar to Hilleberg tent. You'll really love being able to pitch the inner & outer simultaneously, especially if it starts to rain; you'll be able to pitch this tent in jig time. I love how well thought out Fjallraven tents are. I've got an Abisko Lite 1 and it just fills me with joy every time i pitch it. That's a beast of a tent you've got there.

You're going to like this tent better on those windy summit camps than the Abisko. Can’t wait for the snowy summit video!

Though for the winds you see I’d double pole this one.

How much can Blue carry before people start reporting abuse? Could he carry the poles and pegs?
@BUSHMANandBLUE

😂 the recommended weight is a max of a quarter of their body weight. Blue always carries way less than that though.

Time to spread the load I say. Awaken Blue’s Inuit blood and start calling him Torngarsuk the Sky God as a nickname. Stoked to see how the awesome yet heavier tent arrives to the top of a mountain!

I have the abisko view 2. It also has a lot of space. Similar to the dome. Its just a 3 season tent instead of 4. But the weight and size is much less then the 4kg. The features of the dome are awesome but the weight and size is really a no-go for me.

The view 2 is a great tent for summer opening it completely up. 😉

That’s a gorgeous tent and I can’t wait to see you put it through its paces prices seem to be comparable to other high-end tents with the three person only being 1100. I would love to get some US pricing because we have red Deculus winds over here. Two summers in a row we’ve hit over 100 mile an hour.

What a lovely présentation. I've been désappointe by not being able to obtain a Hilleberg Staika anywhere. So have turned my attention to Fyallraven. I'd be interested to know how long it takes to pitch in reality, and how easy the poles might be to slide through. A six week motorcycle trip to Greece from the UK, then up to the Balkans (Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, back through Italy and down to the south of France and back to the UK) left me désappointed with my Berghaus. This has made me look at more serious tents. As I said, lovely video, thank you.

Sounds like you enjoy an adventure. Maybe look at the Fjallraven Endurance 2 or 3 as the porch space is massive to keep any wet biking gear etc

Awesome! Agree with A Trick of the Trail, it looks well designed and perfect tent for an Al & Blue true test 👍 But any 4kg+ I guess you’ll be driving your Disco to the top of Great Gable rather than lug that weight 😂

Looks like a great 2 manner if I am allowed to say that. It looks a good un and yeah, instructions should only be looked at if you get stuck or have bits left over. It il be reet. Great review and looking forward to see your good lady give it her stamp of approval. Maybe, you take the poles and the pegs in your backpack and let Nicola take the rest. I hope she can't see this or I will be getting blocked. All the best matey. Take care Al lad

Nice one!! Been waiting for someone to showcase the fjallraven dome tents. I have the Abisko dome 2 and absolutely love it but find it difficult to put up in wet and windy conditions (prob just impatience 🤷‍♂️) Can’t wait to see you using this up on them there fells but can’t see it becoming a regular on your trips due to weight?

@@BUSHMANandBLUE like you said, the space is amazing. The abisko version is a kilo lighter and I don’t mind carrying the weight for the added comfort but then I am 6ft 4. It’s a bit like the Allak 2 I guess?
