Since last month's announcement that Target was closing its store in East Harlem, many local business owners are now speaking out about the decision and the impact it will have on the community. They joined Good Day New York to discuss their concerns, and what's been going on in the neighborhood.

Bet they will. There was a sams club here that closed recently for no reason, lots of business virtually no crime round here. It’s all part of the plan. This is a wealthy city and because of gentrification they have no local labor pool. This is their solution for cheap labor.

I lived in East Harlem for 6 years & got off at 125 & Lex station everyday. He is correct, it’s the worst station in NYC PERIOD.

I agree. I had jetlag in Tokyo so I decided to stroll the streets at 3am. I never felt so safe. Women walking by themselves at night. Kids getting on Buses alone. Peace and order. Respect. God bless that magnificent country.

Good for Target. All these looters have parents as well, and they don't notice where their kids are getting new things from? Guess what, actions have consequences. There’s always been shoplifting but now it’s just blatant. Someone told me a story of two men walking right out of the store carrying an 82” TV! Looked right at the $7/hour “ass et protection meatball” like “yeah, what are you gonna do”

Yeah, I used to work at a CVS in the suburbs of CT in the early 90's...people passing bad checks, counterfeit currency, shoplifters stealing razors and batteries, etc. We were only allowed to chase them out of the store and try to get their description and license plate number.

I was on the 116st crosstown bus, literally last week and there were two young black (early teens) girls on the bus literally planning how they were going to steal stuff at Target. They were literally on their way specifically to This Target to steal merchandise.

Same thing for the Rite Aid that closed on 125th. The black gang members used to stand out front of the store and coordinate their attacks. Then 15 mins. later they'd sell the merchandise in front of the CVS at the end of the block. You can't make this up!

I feel the disappointment in these 2 business owners ! They set up shop to bring in a store to help support the local residents ! But with the looting and continued thefts by the Citizens, not completely the residents, have really let these businesses down hard ! It takes alot of Dedication and personal financial risk to bring in a store and it’s a huge thing to have to pull out !
